I just scored a LaGanke winder and 16D clamp from eBay and I'm happy as a clam and ready to give winding a shot again.

Thing is, I got two crank assemblies and one clamp in the sale. This leaves me with one crank too many. I'd give it B to B+ for appearance (minor damage to decal and some fade to the anodize), but 100% for functionality.

What I'd like is one of the other clamps. Anyone out there with an extra 26D or 36D clamp?

I'm not an eBay seller and I'd like to see this get a good home as well.

Rick, our master machinist here on Slotblog, has made the clamps out of plexiglass in the past.

Thank you, Don, for the kind words.

I will be happy to make some more clamps, but right now I am swamped with orders I have to get out first...

FWIW Tim LaGanke is actually a member here at Slotblog, having joined in August 2012, but he has only made one post.

Thanks for the comments, and if I have to I will go for a newly-made clamp.

What my poorly-worded post failed to communicate, I think, is that I am offering to trade one LaGanke crank assembly for a clamp. Failing that, maybe some nice motor rebuilding part: a really good commutator, set of great magnets, or such.

These cranks are not so easy to find and I'm sure someone could use it.

If I had an extra, I would trade for sure... but meanwhile... get busy winding!

After 48 years of owning a LaGanke with a 16D and 36D clamp, Rick (RGEO) made me a 26D clamp last year and it is GREAT! Give him a chance to "clear his plate" and I'm sure he will get you fixed up!

One time I saw an auction for 3 - 26D clamps only. Didn't understand why seller did that. He knew what they were. I tried to get just one of the clamps but was unable to do so.

Many years ago, I had made a brass shim that fit in my 36D clamp to do 26Ds. I got my LaGanke before 26Ds ever came out.

Three 26s' as one lot in in one auction ...  That doesn't sound like the 'best' profit plan .. :wacko2:

What did 3 bring, Doug?

I would think the other two might show up one at a time.

Bob, that was several years ago and I've long lost track of any of that.

Frank, the 26D & 36D clamps are different sizes. One clamp doesn't fit both.

Hey thanks for the heads up now I need two different ones. I'll settle for one clamp at this point. PM me if you got one.

PS last set + winder went for $75 bucks on epay.

Why not just ask Rick (RGeo) to make you a 26D clamp?  The cranks are easy DIY projects, the clamps are where you need a machinist.

We've had this winder listed for a week or 10 days in the eBay Forum here. The auction has now ended.

Can someone refresh my hollow memory? What were the sizes of the 3 different clamps? There was a  green  (part 573),  a red (part 772)  and a  blue (part 571) . When i say size I mean the distance between the clamp opening.

Hi Gary,

Red   - 36D = .665"

Green- 26D = .579"

Blue  - 16D = .510"

All with clamp screw loose. Your numbers may vary.

I should have answered this a long time ago. Thanks for that info. I don't do rewinding any more so I tend to forget this stuff. I love to look at the old equipment though.I wish I could find a stash of this stuff. So many people over the years look for it but never find it.
