I have this set, and really regret forgetting to bring it to the Sano.

The supplied track is not too good, as it is push-together pieces. The grannies are high-CG, so the magnets are a must, at least when running on the set track. However, they might work on the King. Not sure they could "punch the bank", though!

I'll have to bring them next time.

That is too cool. :D

Just as cool was a party I did for a retirement home in Phoenix a few years ago.

Sorry, Steve, didn't mean to hijack your thread... had to try posting a photo for the first time this way and was glad it worked!

This party was quite special for me and you KNOW they had a ball. Almost sold them a small track after that but I'm not a great closer. And there were some grannies in there from time to time. :D

Bob, I'd love to see a set of those slot wheelchair grannies on one of your portable tracks, driven by some of the folks in your pictures. Do you use magnetic braid on your tracks? If you do, they'd work fine!

Yes, I do. I'm sure they'd work pretty good but it might not go over well with staff as they might have the belief it could only lead to hallway drag racing. :D

When Scalextric came out with the motorcycles I used them on the track in the pic above, and even with the outriggers but all they wanted to do was go straight at the turns. Only with more magnets did they work at all.

I was recently visiting a friend in a nursing home, and was almost run down by a couple of octogenarians who were drag racing their manual wheelchairs (not electrics) in the hallway. Looks to me as if providing a slot alternative might make things _safer_!

No problem Bob. It wasn't really a "thread". Just something I thought might be interesting to folks here. As were your pics.
That is something one doesn't see everyday. How did the seniors get along with slot cars BTW? Any budding racers in that group? :)

They all had a grand old time :D Most picked it up very quickly and honestly a couple were very good. The Grannies that participated a little didn't do too well. As far as budding racers, I just hope they're all still with us...
