I was looking at DC power supply units and confused regarding the terms "Linear" and "Switching".

Can you use either type of power supply to test slot car motors as long as it has the appropriate voltage and amp specifications?  I saw a variable unit that spec'd at 0-15V, 0-5amp.  I presume specs on this unit would be satisfactory?!

Thank you.

For general use Ernie, the 5 amp spec is too low.
