OK - one of my customers has brought in a Parma Electronic Controller and says it does not work and would like some help in getting it fixed for him.
Who out there that can work on these and would like to help my customer out?

I bet "Jersey John" could fix it. But if he does you never know when he might 'call in the favor' ...
Never seen one .. can you post a picture or a link?

You can try PM'ing Steve Koepp, but you're talking about a 15-20 year old item, IIRC, that was only sold for a very short time.

I don't think so.
I opened up in 2005 and I don't ever remember carrying them or even thinking about it.

I think Joe's timing is more correct on the Turbo EC #272. Parma had problems with this electronic, recalled the unsold ones, & was supposed to issue a revised model, but I don't think they ever did.

I returned to slot cars around 2001~2, and remember those controllers being available a few years later.
So they I think they hit Australia around 2004~5, which makes Joe's timing pretty right
Only one of our guys bought one, and it was never any good from the first hook up.
He returned it, and got a Turbo 2ohm + $ in exchange.

Yes that is it.
I know they did not last long, but the customer said that he enjoyed using it. Just trying to help a customer out.

Those came out during the time I was working at Westchester Raceway. We sold a few and they all were sent back to Paul at Parma after breaking down. None of them lasted very long.

Glueside, I don't work on other companies products, but if you need some advice or parts, let me know. I may not be able to help but you don't know until you ask.

I know that there was two different boards( long and short). One of the lessons on WHY surface mount parts are bad for the casual hobbyist who is prone to dropping things.
I think I have an extra trim knob for the center pot.

Cute story about the Parma electronic controller. Chicky brought one with him to a race at my place, when he was working at Parma. It was still a work in progress and we all had a run with it. He forgot it there, somehow. Well come Monday I get a frantic phone call asking if saw it or had it. Just too good resist, I said no, hand not seen it. LMAO! I then had to come clean and shipped it back to Ohio.....................

Timing doesn't matter!
I really don't know when the Parma Electronic controller entered the market, and it doesn't really matter.
The bottom line is that I have repaired one some years ago. I swedish racer came to me and asked if I could do naything, and I said that I could always take a look.
It turned our that the power transistors had blown, probaaly because he had rund something hotter than a S16D (possibly a X-12). I replaced the power transistor with a more powerfull type, and by a miracle it worked again.
Several of the part in this controller are spec'ed in a very optimistic way, and racers will always try to run something hotter.

Steen - you are TOO polite. Quality engineering MUST acount for the obvious uses by the typical buyer.
