Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Roar, can you tell me your procedure for cleaning/shining the motor?
Next time something is going to you from me let me know and I will throw in some "fresh" Graupners for the rear of that beast.
Keep these beauties coming.

That's really neat

Greg: It's all because of the damage inflicted by reading all those hot rod magazines (Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding, Cars, Rod & Custom) that were available in Norway in the late 60's/early 70's!
The last thing I did before I gave up on slot cars in the very early 70's, was build some drag cars. When I returned to the hobby, I just continued doing the same thing (after an early phase collecting "regular" vintage slot cars). I love the look of those cars, and I just love doing it.
Joe: I just polish it up with some WB-40. Removes dirt, prevents rust, and gives a nice shine to it.

Paul: They hook up pretty well. On this one the motor is pretty much in a regular position so traction is no problem. On the Pure Hell weight distribution is about 60/40 (some lead at the back and fitting silicones helps greatly on traction). I don't mind wheelspin though as long as they do move in a forward direction...... These cars are not built with maximum effiency in mind. If they can be made to run decently (and still look right) it's a bonus!

That's just down right COOL!!!
Could you glue a scoop to the "top" of the motor and maybe some pipes to the sides? Just a thought.
Well, time to get one of those AMT double dragster kits before they're all gone.

If you live in an area that has a Hobby Lobby, they're closing out the AMT double dragster kit in the cardboard box version. They should be marked at 40% off.
There were 2 on the local shelf and I got one of 'em today.
If your store doesn't have them marked down, you can always go to their website and print a 40% off coupon.
AMT also made a special collectors tin box kit of these cars. It lists for $29.99. It is not on mark down but you can still get it for 40% off with the internet coupon. My local store had one on the shelf today.

Really slick build ! I believe this is my favorite, it captures so much of the early 1960's !!!

Roar, Get these cars ready for the Proxy races !!!

In complete agreement with Greg! I haven't heard the phrase "the look" in 45 plus years. Having "the look" was only applied to a select few of the best cars at our track and only when everything came together just right and resulted in a winning car that was fast under many different conditions. You could just glance at the car and see it had "the look" and was fast.
Roar's car with the blown hemi looking padlock pouring through the hood and nice frame does have "the look" stamp of approval!

I agree with Greg on this.
BUT Roar, it needs pipes. Exhaust pipes/zoomys/headers... something chrome and swoopy on the sides. Easy fix and will add a ton to the overall look.
