The chassis is built from so far unknown principles ;-) with a mid-mounted hinge and a flexible and movable weight pan:

Here is is alongside my old Lotus 49

The first test of the new chassis was promising, but it was a bit unstable and could suddenly leave the track in fast turns.

I have since mounted a small piano wire spring to put more weight on the front whees, which I hope will solve the problems.

Very cool, Niels! I never get tired of seeing your creations, sitting in the pits with all the appropriate accoutrements(sp?) nearby.

Superb Niels :good: :D  Really nice design , here's hoping the added spring helps with the handling.

Are the bodies your own resin creations as they look really detailed especially the Eagle :)

No, the bodies are clear plastic, both from John Dillworth. The Eagle is a Lancer repop, while the Lotus master is made from my old Heller Lotus 49 kit.

I use Testor Metalizer paints for the engine parts. These can be buffed which adds depth to the material.

Niels,

THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! Someday... SOME day... I really will build a home track(or have built) with "all the fixins". Pits. Grandstands. Spectators. Trees. I can't WAIT to retire(only 32 months!)!

Thanks Niels, will have to look at getting both of those shells from John, amazing bodies :)

That testors paint sure does the trick :good:

What wheels/tires do you use ?as they really finish the cars off along with the inserts .

:shok: Ultra InSANO no doubt.

How ?  I can smell the fuel, feel the speedy dry on the bottom of my shoes and the and hear the ratchet in the pit booth two doors down.   :good:  :wacko2:

Two questions:

  1. Can you speak about the crown gear?
  2. How do you tint the windshield yellow?

Wonderful !!!

Rims are standard 15 inside diameter 16mm wide alu rims for 3mm axles from German manufacturers like Slotpoint or JP. Rubber is firm foam rubber front and stadard soft rubber rear. The wheel sides are painted with black vallejo acrylics + matt varnish. After adding tyre decals they are covered with matt varnish on top.

The resin inserts are my own products cast in resin. The 3 pointed nut are from Dieter Jens in Germany.

Bob,

The crown gear is from Scaleauto and tinted black with a Marker pen.

I use glass paint for the windshield for the Lotus

Do they fit both 3/32 and 1/8th axles?

To be clear on the mm to inch conversion before I order some...

So Gents ...

Question ...

Will the hub will have to be reamed out from .1181102362 inch (3mm) to .125 for use on 1/8th inch axles?

Is the adapter is 2.39mm I/D for use on (.094) 3/32 axles?

Bob, we need to know their pitch. They may not be one of our standard pitches, as are Slot-It crowns, and require special pinions.

Bill/Bob  - I dont know the pitch, but it is the same as all others gears inline and sidewinder used for European (Japanese?) scale racing. Sigma, JP, Scaleauto etc.

Slot It is another ball game as they chance diameter on their gears to suit their fixed distance sidewinder configuration.
