Isn't it sad to see how many of the comments have become personal attacks on the writers of opposing views?  :(

No, it's sad the guy who holds the record for being banned from slot car chat rooms has the chutzpah to make the above post.

Go back a couple pages and read what Mike Swiss said.

It's exactly what I'm saying but there is a whole lot more than one person doing this. Of course in the C Main a matched set of magnets doesnt matter but in the A Main you bet it does. Not to mention you put the trust of someone who just started a rival series in building sealed motors for your series. The way the rules are written it's the refurbers job to enforce the rules, WHAT A JOKE.

Did I explain it simple enough for you?

Not talking about the PD thing. I agree with you 100% on that. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop on that subject. Greg might have to split this subject off to a new thread :)

This thread is about the Hawk Retro. I just don't see the problem. These motors were supposed to be on a similar performance level. From the results at the last few races they look about neck and neck. And if a new guy sees he can compete without doing the "Box 'O Puppy Dog motors" routine, then what exactly is the problem?

Agreed.

The REAL arrogance and disrespect is the continual second-guessing we get from Rick B and yourself, when all our volunteer hard work has created substantial demand for you two ingrates' various chassis and other Retro parts.

Mike, has not all of this equated for more parts sales for you?

I guess what I was trying to say is that there are better places to abuse or criticize fellow slot car racers.

Sam,

You hit the nail on the head.

The goal is similar performance, as the RH as proved to accomplish.

The RH detractors think that Jerry's supplier, the one who can supply product promptly, not in ten months like Topline's, should have been able to drop an F7 in a cloning machine, and come up with a motor with identical performance, consistency, and longevity.

Sadly a few of those same detractors think we should of considered the 4002FK as a legimate FK and consider approving it.

Back to RH consistency and longevity, I bet if the F7 ever winds up with longer-wearing brushes, guys might make the effort to find one with PD like performance and use it.

As mentioned by me numerous times before, at the last two Sanos, the fastest race lap by a reasonable amount, in GTC-FK, was turned by the winner of two year's ago race, Dave Geehring, using an F7, NOT a RH.

I kind of went off topic talking about the Puppy Dogs but my main point is opening them up would make the Hawk issues irrelevant since many would use the Puppy Dogs at that point anyway. Once you get a few good set-ups they are good to go for a while and much more consistent.

It would end the other issue of people blueprinting their motors before sending them in. Not sure how many are guilty but even one is one too many.

That's all I have to say about motors.

Lets talk about something else for a change. Hopefully I'll see everyone at the Viper Pit in June!

Great point, IMO. Even though its off subject.

I do like seeing that kind of motor out there though. They get my adrenaline pumping which motivates me even more.

Just got back from SpeedZone doing some T&T with my Can-Ams. One Chassis a 3D E. Gherken, the other a R-Geo T-Fork (which is still intact).

Ran RH Hawk in both, also ran PDs in both. Tried different gear and tire combos on both. Both ran in the high 5.5s. The PD had better straightaway speed, also ran a lot cooler. The RH ran great up the donut (mmmmm... donuts) and through the finger. Ran pretty hot. Tried a lot of gear combos... PD - 7/27. RH - 9/28. These seem to run the best for ME on this particular track.

Wes P. was a huge help.

Noose has done more to promote Retro racing in the East than anyone else. His hard work has made RE a raging success.

Mr. Samson, you have benefited greatly because of this. I see your products for sale in every RE venue. You should be thanking Mr Neusmeister instead of being condescending. Obviously it is a thankless job just because of your comments.

Tony P has the code.

IIRC, in Mabuchi jargon, the "F" stands for a flat can and the "K" refers to it being a brushed motor.

In the Retro slot car world, it's a motor with unreplacable tiny brushes, that coasts during a track call.

Google "FK motor", hit "Images" and scroll through the results.

Before Pro Slot came out with the 4002FK, their wasn't anything that looked like a slot car sized motor with a screw-on endbell and replaceable brushes and springs.

The 4002FK is 'not' an FK... it's a 4002 Chinese with more magnetism and 65 turns.

The turns meet spec, the magnets meet spec, the can and endbell meets spec, the price meets spec, if you can change your own brushes it could/would be cheaper to run than an FK... So why can't they be run?

Fast, Cheap, and Good. That's what we are all after... correct?
