Here is all the information for what is sure to be the largest premier retro event the South has ever seen, The Southern Showdown!

The Viper Pit
1396 Dillon Road
Thomasville, GA 31757
(229) 226-4447

Schedule:

Thursday - June 26 - Raceway will be open all day for practice.

Friday - June 27 - Raceway will be open at 8 AM. Tech opens for GTC on the Engleman at 10 AM, immediately followed by Stock Car on the King.

Saturday - June 28 - Raceway will open at 8 am. Tech opens for Can-Am on the Engleman at 10 AM, immediately followed by Formula One on the Engleman.

GT Coupe and Stock Car car entrants will have one minute to qualify and achieve their best lap time.  Mains will be seeded from fastest time to slowest. Once all race's are over the laps will be combined to determine overall finish positions.

Can Am and F1 entrants will have one minute to qualify and achieve their best lap time. Mains will be seeded from fastest time to slowest. The winner and runner up of each main will move up to the next main.

Box plaques and wall plaques will be handed out for all classes for participants and winners. Full IRRA™ rules apply.

The raceway is located at a residential location. It is very well-lighted, and lots of pit space. The food is always great, and lodging is only five minutes away from the track. Both tracks are in great shape and super smooth!

All of the "Southern heavy hitters" were in attendance last year, including but not limited to: Danny Zona, Mike "Biscuit" Bressett, James Merriman, Tony P., Brandon Cates, Chris Barnes, Terry Tawney, Ralph Thorne and, Jay Guard. This year should be just as good if not better! There is lots of early interest from some of the top Northern racers also!

Hotel Information:

The Baymont Inn (formerly the Jameson Inn), it is very clean and safe. If you mention the Viper Pit when you book your room you should receive a discounted rate at $55 per night plus tax. Their number is (229) 227-9500.

Wayne is already bringing the pain. LOL.

Hey JC, I know you remember all the questions he asked when you we're tech director at a race a few years back. Ha-ha.

I have to know, I don't want to be called out for not going by the rules.

Are there going to be some T-shirts made for the race this time?

As far as bodies go here's what I run:

Can-Am - O/S Ti22 NN
Formula One - O/S M7C
GT Coupe - O/S Chevron B16R
Stock Car - O/S Dodge Daytona

You might want to check with some local Florida Retro racers and see what they are running, or search race reports here on Slotblog and see what's winning races.

So is there any new info on the shirts for this largest Premier event the south has ever seen?

If you are still planning on having some for the race put me down for 1 XL.

FB'ed with someone earlier.

They said turnout looks terrific with 25 racers already there, earlier today.

Good luck to all this weekend.

Arrived a little after 6 PM and yeah, turn-out is already very good. Lots of out-of-towners.

Should be a great weekend of slot racing. I'll try to post some decent coverage, though I may actually race a class or two, as crazy as that sounds. There's enough racers in the house that I shouldn't be needed to marshal as is often the case.

Hot as all hell and as humid as a sauna though...

No, there is not, unfortunately.

I'll be posting results as quickly as I can and am taking pictures, but will not able to post them until I get back to Slotblog World Headquarters on Sunday.
