Dave Robling, owner of DJ Hobbies in Eastpointe, MI, passed away this afternoon. Dave was suffering from liver failure and was on the transplant list when he passed. His condition forced him to close DJ Hobbies 2 months ago and sell his track, Chris Dadds Corner Climb.

For those that wish to pay their respects to Dave's family, I will post funeral arrangements as soon as they are finalized. There were several customers that became friends with Dave and helped run the store its last few weeks when Dave wasn't well enough to do it.

Hi Tim, Sorry to hear that sad news.

I know first hand that those 'lists' are very long.

Dave always seemed friendly, kind, and easygoing. I appreciated the times I was able to particpate in races at his track. He did a great job installing that Corner Climb.

Peace be with his family at this time.

Dave was a great guy. I remember pounding on the door before he even opened. It was nice to have a track on the Eastside. And Dave did a great job of making the track better that it ever was!

Peace be with you, Dave.

Dave's obituary:

dr.jpg

David Keith Robling, age 61, passed away on April 25, 2014, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born September 25, 1952, to Glen and Margaret Robling. He was a beloved husband of Colleen Robling. Brother of Margaret (Paul) Boes. Dear father of Mike (Angie) Robling and Dawn Robling. He was an adored step-father of Shelley (Tim) Wagner and Jeff Wagner. A loving grandfather of Jewell, Landon, Summer, Jerimiah, Joesph, Brianna, Vanessa and a great-grandfather to Ernie, Arisela and Aylannah. He was survived by many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful pup, Samantha.

Dave was known most recently for his slot car store, DJ Hobbies in Eastpointe, where he could relive his racing glory days on a miniature scale. He was a retired tool and die supervisor from the Chrysler Warren Stamping Plant. He was an avid fisherman and liked spending his days in a boat trolling for walleye, perch, crappie, and bluegill. In the summer months he liked to be on the jet skis, four wheelers, and camping with his family enjoying the great outdoors. In the winter months he loved to be on his snowmobile or ice fishing. To relax, Dave enjoyed wood working, gardening, and caring for his Koi pond and salt water fish aquarium.

Family will receive friends and visitors Monday 3 to 9 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods.

A funeral service will be Tuesday 12 noon at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home.
