I would like to know which Brake Parts Cleaner would be a good substitute for Pure Performance Motor Cleaner for cleaning sealed Retro motors in the states.

Thanks in advance,

Haruki :)

I use CRC electric contact cleaner, safe on plastic. Brake cleaner is too harsh...

CRC QD Electrical Contact Cleaner. Available at most auto supply houses, K Mart, and Wal Mart. This is what I use instead of pure. It's been around of years and works very, very well. I've used it tons of times for motor cleanout on Falcon 7's, Evil 9's, Hawk 7's, and 16D's.

Thanks a lot, Rick & Michael.

I will get one from Amazon, USA, for Retro Palooza because I cannot pack such chemicals as motor-cleaners in my air-line baggage.

Have you ever used the following chemical for slot racing?

I have used both Pure and the CRC ecc and they both worked great..... But when I used the CRC on my fastest supper G HO race car it just fell apart within just a few minits . I never used the CRC again.

We are now using "Performance Plus 4 Electronic Cleaner for RC Cars" by T.A. Emerald Industries.  Endorsed by Reedy and Team Associated and sold by leading RC shops.

Joe,

Pure is my first choice but I was looking for a substitute easier to find at Amazon for my use during Retro Palooza.

If I find a Pure at Port Jefferson, it is OK.

Haruki, it sounds like you plan to mail-order this for delivery to your hotel ?  If that's the case, why not just order some PURE spray?  PCH parts express has it.  Or, check with Port Jeff or even Slots A Lot, I would be surprised if neither one had this

"Whatever..."

Joe Mig, probably because you used the wrong stuff. You need 503 that is safe on plastic. pACE3-1253364enh-z7.jpg

Brake cleaner, both Chlorinated and Non- chlorinated doesn't just demolish plastic it also melts the seals on PDs.. rough stuff but great for de-greasing metal..
