The first D3 Hardbody Enduro was held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Buena Park Raceway.

8 teams of 3 drivers each competed for podium plaques and bragging rights until the next enduro.

This was a 4 hour enduro with 10 minute heats and 1 minute lane changes. All 24 racers drove on all 8 lanes (10 min. each) during the enduro.

We had very close racing and a few hard crashes but mostly minor damage to the cars.

Surprisingly, all 8 cars did not require a motor change. The Falcon 7 and TSR D3 motors lasted the entire race with no noticeable slowdowns. Also, most if not all of the cars ran on one set of tires for the entire enduro.

Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson for their support of hardbody racing at Buena Park Raceway.

Thanks to our race directors: Victor Dubrowsky, Hector Gonzalez, Tim Neja, Paul Sterrett, Jim Watterson

Here's the race/photo report: http://socald3.phanf...odyracers/2014/

Our next monthly D3 hardbody races will be on Sunday, July 20th (monthly races on the 3rd Sunday of each month).

Keith :)

You guys run a handicap system for your regular races?

Dennis, every month we have a NASCAR race with two podiums, a regular podium and a racer handicap podium. The racer handicap is based on a moving average of the last 6 races of each racer.

Only races with total laps within 10% of one's recent races is counted towards the moving average. Currently the handicap is 90% of the difference between one's moving average and the best lap total recorded by anyone in our group. It's basically like a bowling handicap.

It's good to have at least one race a month in which anyone has a chance to podium regardless of racing ability.

I keep wanting to "GET" a handicap---but dammit--that means I'd have to LOSE some races!!! :) :)   And I've been on a pretty good podium run lately!! :)

It IS good to have the two podiums--- helps everyone enjoy the racing more!  And THAT is always good!!  :)

I was very surprised that everyone only used one motor (TSR D3 or Falcon 7) for the enduro and many if not all only used one set of tires.

The tire wear on the two enduro cars I prepared was negligible. Both cars still pass tech (.050" rear clearance) after 4 hours of racing.

We easily had at least .050 clearance after the race and our motor probably had another hour and a half left on the brushes minimum

But I think we were the only team to kill off front tires  :D

Max, what caused the right front tire to come off?

Max, what caused the right front tire to come off?

I think it was just a glue issue and the tire came off the rim. However late in the race we had a bit of a repeat, going down the straight it was like watching a car with hydraulics showing off, front end bouncing all over the place. Thanks to our teammate Mill for keeping us in the race.

Had a great time though!
