That shaved-on-top crew is now officially known to all barbers as "The Sweepette Cut."

Great article!

O'Dells was nectar.  You could get an edge so sharp in a wave it could cut paper.

Ahhh..and the proverbial "hot comb".

Hi, Lee. Many memories of the after race dashes :)

I remember being at the Car Model race Lee referred to in the article. Man, that was a long time ago.

Guys, it's a lame in-joke: as mentioned in the article, Lee is also a bigtime model airplane competitor. The series of hand-launch gliders he designed is known collectively by the name "Sweepette." It's still a well known & much loved classic.

MY flyin' buddy Prof. Fate used to chuckle over how he & Lee would mess with the locals by talking Flyers at Slotcar meets and talking Slotcars at Flyer meets.

Trol was in.

And don't forget Butch Crew Wax in the push-up tube with the built in comb.

Later a DA, nylon socks, PFCs and a pack of (well packed) Luckys .... made ya (me) a real Greaser.

We had it good, real good.
