I want to so thank you to all of the racers who attended the Southern Showdown last weekend in Thomasville, GA. Without you guys and gals these races wouldn't be possible. You guys traveled from seven different states to come race, and I think we all had a blast. There were no major issues on or off the race track. The competition was close and fierce and as was expected, new track records were set in every class raced!

Grant did an excellent job running tech as he always does, and doing all the other thankless duties that are required to make races like this happen! There were only minor issues in tech such as tire diameter, spoiler heights, etc. So thanks to everyone for having their cars ready to go!

It seemed as there was a good mix of Puppy Dogs and Retro Hawks, but the Puppy Dogs got the majority of the podium spots in GT Coupe, Can-Am, and F1. The PDs seemed to be a good mix of Fast Ones, Pro Slots, and "bag" motors.

Thank you to the Viper Pit owners and staff. They have a great facility for racing and are always willing to do what it takes to make the race as enjoyable as it can be. The tracks were smooth and fast as always, and despite the outside temperatures being in the 90s it was nice in cool all weekend inside. Owner Aaron Scott bought everyone lunch on Friday, and even took racers for rides all weekend in his 427 Cobra, and allowed anyone to swim in his personal pool!

Thank you to all the class sponsors: Slotblog, Noose Custom Painting, Chicagoland Raceway, Fast Ones, and Outisight. Also thanks to all the race prize donators: CHR Cars, FSF, BRP, and R-Geo. Every racer received at least one race prize to take home with them.

A big thank you to all the sponsors of this event and everyone that volunteered their time to help to make it a success. Most notably Greg Wells for taking pics and posting results all weekend. Rick Moore and John Clow were also a great help at the tech table.

The racing and competition at Thomasville gets closer and closer each time we visit. Congrats to all the podium finishers, you guys earned it.

On behalf of Aaron Scott and the rest of the gang at the Viper Pit, we wish to thank all the racers and their families who attended the Southern Showdown. We consider the event a great success, with everyone in attendance having a really fun time. The qualifying was tight, the racing close, and the mood competitive but convivial.

We also wish to thank Ralph and Grant for putting the event together. Without their inspiration and push, this event would not have occurred.

Last but not least, we wish to express our gratitude to all the event sponsors, whose donations made the event complete.

We look forward to the next Showdown at the Pit!

Looks like it was a great event... congrats to everyone who raced, and Ralph for putting it together.

Hopefully the "big race in the south" finally has a home.
"Whatever..."

And how could I forget Greg? Please forgive me.
