Most of you have read about the tragedy that has befallen fellow racer Jim Bandes of Yeti Chassis fame. He has been a slot racer for many years and has a deserved reputation for being an excellent, and prolific, chassis builder. If you live in or near Ohio you most likely consider him a friend. Regardless, after losing everything in a tragic fire he needs ALL our help.
I have already sent him my best guesstimate of the proceeds from this years Columbus Classic Retro Enduro. In addition Steve Koepp of Parma Intl. has committed to donating up to eight bodies he is custom painting to the cause. These bodies will be "Silent Auctioned" during the race on Saturday August 9. Our goal is to have pictures of all the items posted by noon on raceday. This auction is open to anyone in attendance and anyone in the slot racing community.
Steve Koepp paints very sharp bodies that would look great in anyone's box. And although I can't get into details yet we hope to have some really cool additional items as well.
Donations will be accepted starting now. Auction bids will start as soon as we can post pictures of the items. They will be posted in this thread so check back often. You can bid by calling the raceway (614-274-5150) or the preferred way would be to send a PM directly to me here on the blog. In addition to your bid amount I will need your name, phone number, and the number of the item you are bidding on. Bidding will end and the winners will be notified at 5:00pm EDST and payment must be made before 6:00pm. Anything unclaimed will be offered to the next highest bidder. Payments can be sent via PayPal to sales@tomthumbhobbies.com. I will cover shipping to the lower 48 and anywhere else will be an additional $10.00.
I will try as best I can to update the high bids hourly on the hour. The updates will be with the item pics.
So, guys... dig deep. Bid on these items. Or just donate whatever you can. Every dime goes directly to Jim. A guy who is living one of the worst nightmares I can imagine.
