The '58 Chevy. My dad purchased one new back then with a 348 single 4 barrel W-series engine.

Nice '58 Impala!
The Steve Bolander (Ron Howard) cruiser.
In your builds, you always get to the essence of the car.

Thanks Phil and Martin.
Not a hot rod, but Curt in the movie drove a light blue Citroen 2CV.
The light blue Citroen is still under restoration. A burgundy and black one is complete though.
Front wheel drive in scale.

Corvette with a special 3 pole armatured Pittman 706 motor. The car goes like a car with a rewound 36D Arco magnet motor.
The car works great on a modern slot car drag strip. The German rear tires have the right amount of bite for the tire glue on modern tracks. In my opinion, modern slot car drag race tires have way too much bite for vintage drag race cars.

Hi Rodney,
I love the novel use of a Kemtron frame for a different motor (X503 maybe ) and other pieces for a drop arm extension and rear body mount.

Amen, very clever setup Rodney.
Is it a Mabuchi arm, so something different? Did you have to change the timing?

That car has the typical 'gasser stance'. Nice job on the build. All it needs is its white shoe polish class designation written on the windshield.

The chassis for this Fiat came from an Australian builder. The car features a centrifugal clutch setup! I added the Fiat body and model car engine detail. The motor in the car is an old Mura X12.
When the car was first tested, the clutch slipped too much, and the E.T.s were 1.7 seconds. I replaced the nylon clutch friction shoes with plastic ones from a Jerobee RC car. I also changed the gear ratio slightly. The E.T.s dropped to 1.3 seconds.
This car was fun to play with and tune. I wanted the motor to "idle" on the line, and then launch when RPM was raised. The clutch engages too fast, so it is more on or off.

Just like they really were on full sized cars way back. Now they all use slipper clutches to avoid those tire smoking runs. I really miss that.
What body is that? i know there was a plastic model of a Fiat altered, but haven't seen one in ages. I used a resin re-pop I got from a friend.

Love that you replicated the tube frame around the engine. I've been doing the same thing with some of my newer builds, and I makes a world of difference in the realism of the car. Altereds and rails are the coolist!

Kudos to the Australian builder.

Jerry saw some slot car dragsters for sale at a GOODGUYS event that interested him. The seller wanted too much money, and they were not that nice. I told Jerry that I could build him a slot car dragster if he supplied the model kit. Jerry chose a Prudhomme dragster kit.
The car will be raced, so I built a wheelie bar chassis. Thanks, Ron, for the used chassis parts. A modern Group 20 motor was also supplied for the car (not shown). The model kit engine looked small to us, so I supplied the larger one that is fitted in the car.
Jerry will paint and detail the dragster.
Gluing the body together
Tight fit.
The body held on with single screw. Slop in the screw to allow for chassis flex.
