Unbelieveably fast, as this video of the Unlimited Final Main at the HOPRA Nats in 2012 will prove. Sounds like a large swarm of very angry bees...

Alchemist posted a video here back in February 2011 showing some fast HO cars, but nothing like this!

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Way harder to follow than a G7 car. It was a humbling experience to drive them even when I had better reaction times and vision.

Scratchbuilt is allowed. I wonder if all the A Main cars are scratchbuilt?

It depends on your definition of 'scratchbuilt'.

1st - Rick DeRosa - Thor

2nd - Chris Rondinella - Thor

3rd Matt Handy - Cheetah

4th Bill Macy - P3

The Thor chassis is a very short run machined chassis by HOST, the Cheetah is a short run production by Slottech, and the P3 is a production chassis by Wizzard.

Some pictures of Bob Dame's unlimited winning car at this years Nats, now that is scratchbuilt!

Gravity cars are a lot easier to build.

Sure not the HO cars I remember as a kid (50-55 years ago). Tried them a couple of times. More or less a waste of time at the time.

Things have changed. Might have to check into this. AWESOME!

Red,

A well known Nats-level wing car racer in the Atlanta area, Kerry Champion, abandoned wing cars to race Unlimited HO cars some years ago. As far as I know, he's out of slot racing altogether now, but the fastest HO stuff grabbed him in a big way. I'm pretty sure he raced nationally in HO for a while after he left the 1/24 scene.

Actually, they are easy to drive...

Kerry getting grabbed in a big way?

Surely you jest.

If tonight,he decided to get in involved in competitive nose picking, on Saturday morning by 9 AM, the would be parked in front of the best manicurist in a three-hour radius of Atlanta.

"Hey Bubba". LOL.
