Hi Folks,

I've got a tyre truer that uses a 1/8" axle with a pulley on it to spin the tyres.  For 3/32 wheels I have an axle that's 1/8" on one end to accept the pulley and run in the bearings and turned down to 3/32 in the other end to accept the wheels.  I need a similar adapter that goes from 1/8" to 3mm so I can fit Tamiya and Plafit wheels.  Where can I get one?

Thanks,  Steve

I've never seen one offered commercialy. You're talking .118 verses .125 for a 1/8" axle., You might be able to grind it yourself using a Dremel abrasive disc or else take it to a local machine shop. I've seen racers grind arm shafts from 2mm to 1.5mm using a Dremel.

I'm confused, Steve, because you say your truer is a Hudy, but uses a 1/8" axle in the pulley. Is your Hudy different than mine ? :wacko2:

Mine uses a .118" (3 mm) axle in the pulley; the 3/32 wheel adapter reduces it to .09375", and the 1/8" wheel adapter enlarges it to .125" .

You are asking for an adapter that goes from 1/8" on the pulley to 3mm for the wheels.  If your machine is different than mine, that would make sense.  But if it's the same as mine (which I'll bet it is, since they only make them in metric AFAIK) you don't need an adapter, just use a 3 mm shaft which will fit the Hudy pulley and your 3 mm wheels - no reduction needed. :)

If you do actually need an axle shaved down from .125 to .118 that is pretty easy, I've done it before and I can tell you how to do it with some leather gloves, 40 grit sandpaper, a hand drill, and some burn cream for your fingers :laugh2:

Pablo, I think Hudy used to make the tire truers & other tools sold under the JK label. These used a stationary sanding drum (small Dremel sanding band) like the Cobra tire truers does. It's possible Hudy also sold these tire truers under their own name. That's what it sounds like Steve has.

Many of the 1/24 scale plastic slot cars use 3mm axles - like Plafit and BRM that Alan Smith imports from Italy.Their dealers should have one.

MY Hudy uses a 3mm shaft.  Check yours with a caliper.  1/8" tires fit so easy on it that they can make out of round tires REAL easy  My Hudy came with adaptors to 3/32 and 1/8"...many of us need a 3mm and a 2mm adaptor for eurosport. as well.

Find a Hudy dealer and try to order the std 1/8 adapter - use the 1/8" in the pulley and you have an exposed 3mm shaft for the tire. ...only problem is that the exposed 1/8" is only 1/2" long and the 3mm is about 1.5" long.  May not fit in the support arm.  Hudy may even make the 2 and 3mm adaptors.
