So, I am guessing some censorship was involved since the other couple of threads relating to the Texas NASCAR race are no longer around?

Well, mostly because it turning into personal insults and all.

Brian France made a statement that post race fighting in NASCAR was essentually unacceptable.  However, he set the chase up this way, what did he think would happen.  The pressure is on and these guys are feeling it.  I saw  at least 1/2 of the remaining chase field lose their minds Sunday.  I expect more of the same at Phoenix.  In the meantime, I bet Bill Sr. is spinning in his grave.

I will say this - it's exciting for the fans.  As a racer, I would hate it.

He has no problem with the fighting but doesn't want punches being thrown. What he really wants is the drivers to settle it one on one and keep the pit crews out it. That's when things get dangerous.

Kind of like asking the baseball team to stay in the dugout after the batter gets hit with an aimed pitch ?

Stemmy, if he really wanted the crews not to get involved he would make a rule that ANY crew member getting involved in a fight/brawl would be suspended, without question.  First offense would be a 3 race suspension, second a year suspension and third would be a life time suspension.  With all of the cameras involved in NASCAR this would not be hard to detect and enforce.  The problem lies in the fact that Little Fat Brian wants both to be the head of NASCAR and the new version of P.T. Barnum.  All of this extra sure does bring up interest and sells tickets as shown by the fact that every year at Daytona we see the old Allisons/Cale fight as race promotion.  The very one who should have been fined the most and suspended was the little coward, Kevin Harvick.  Kevin pushed Brad from the rear and then ran away.  Kevin needs to turn in his man card and start to potty with Danica.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Harvick is afraid of Brad/Team Penske and doesn't want to race him in Homestead for the championship. That's why he stuck his nose in Jeff's and Brad's business.

As long as the France family members are worth $7 to 8 billion, with a B, and growing they aren't going to change. Or care. I wouldn't either.

I ask because I remember not to long ago that getting a ticket to a Nascar race was not an easy thing.  Most events were sold out years in advance.  I've been to 2 races this year and got deals on both.  Bought Dover tickets the day before the race.  The poor economy is certainly a factor in changing that.  On top of that TV ratings have been falling. for the last couple years too.  I know they have a new partner with NBC next year and ESPN is gone.  (I don't mind the ESPN Nascar reporters, but the rest of ESPN treats Nascar like crap.  I don't blame Nascar for looking for a better deal).

Do I think B France is the equivelant of TG - probably not.  TG took a perfectly good series, at the height of it's popularity, and blew it all up just to get his way.  Then he spent so much on the Hulman fortune that eventually his sisters kicked him out as he was spending their inheritance.  Indycar is still recovering.

I will say this, this chase format is exciting as a spectator.  I would hate it as a racer.  How it helps in the short or long run, we'll have to see.
