I have never heard of this body. Does any one know of any pictures of this body?
Just curious about it.
Thanks.

I've never seen a Tamiya 2J before - possibly a resin body that's not from Tamiya though as no mention of it anywhere else ?
I see they also have the repro sidewinder and inline chassis listed also...

The description says "Injection Molded", so probably not a resin.
Thanks Chris for posting it, I just bought one, and I'll post some pics if no-one else does.

Chris is in dire need of yet one more hardbody slot car. Yep. LOL Can't wait to see it, Chris... provided you take the plunge. By the way, I STILL haven't started on my P2 yet.(sigh)
Remember, two wrongs don't make a right... but three lefts do! Only you're a block over and a block behind.

You can't have too many hardbodies, especially Chaparrals.

There's a thread about this one over at slotforum also. Body is confirmed injection molded plastic from a Japanese maker but not officially Tamiya - it has mount posts positioned to fit the sprung sidewinder Tamiya repro chassis from the same seller though, so "sorta" Tamiya...
If you go throught the post on slotforum (i think it's in Vintage) there's a link to the bodies on a Japanese Auction site - they look pretty good to me...

Apparently based on information from Andy Smith, this body was not made by Tamiya, but instead was made by a third party to fit the Tamiya chassis.
Here are the only pics of the body that I could find:
If this is what you get for your money, there is a lot of scratch-building needed to make something that looks like this:

Thanks for posting the body pics MG.
There are a couple of vac formed bodies available, so any missing details might be achievable by cutting them out?!

Quite a few years ago (20 or more) a company in Germany called White Point made 2J bodies, possibly that's what this is.

Niels, I'll weigh it tonight when I get home, and I didn't see any indication of who the manufacturer is, but I'll check again.

Niels, the bare body is 25 grams, and there are no manufacturer's marks.

I am guessing that the 2J mold was originally tooled by Toho and was subsequently obtained/purchased and modified for mounting on the Tamiya chassis by Japanese model accessory and paint company Mr Craft.

Great job Fred!
And you found a Tamiya chassis for the body, good find! It really looks nice, especially with all the other cars.

Gentlemen , Here is my Chaparral 2J in Vac form on a Cox Mag chassis. Runs great and can take a hit. Picked up the Body and Decals from Patto's Place down in Australia. Very reasonable prices. You can reach him at Pattosplace@gmail.com
