What is the fastest Scalextric out of the box 1/32 scale non digital slot car?

I have a MG Lola Knighthawk and I'm looking for another car or cars that are just as fast or faster out of the box.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Personally, I think the Jaguar XKRS is the fastest Scaley I've ever owned. It whipped my MG Lola anytime they ran.

Hi Flower

Depending on the layout

a Scaley Camaro can give the Lola a run for it´s money ;)

hope it helps!?

Hi
Jaak, I think she means the Lola B98k not the Lola T70! Flower, I have never run one out of the box, though I have at least 6. Every modern plastic I have bought, currently somewhere past 300, has had a production problem. Slave labor in China isn't conducive to qualty control. So, using the stock parts and depending on the track, there are a number of cars I can usually get to go faster than the Scalley Lola b98. On Bob Schliecher's home track in MCR magazine, the outright record is held by my SCX. On the local routed track with no magnets, my quickest car is the NSR mosler.

Early reports say that the Porsche RS Spyder and the Audi R10 are mighty fine lil race cars... and would pair up nicely with your Knighthawk.
That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

This is my Lola. (c2367)

My Jaguar XKRS isn't nearly as fast and doesn't handle anything like the Lola.

Get a second Lola but paint the body with a different livery. :)

This Lola was made in six different liveries. :)
And as in all these cheap plastic cars with the lowest common-denominator 40-cent motor, you can take 10 of them and they all will be performing very differently, and at least one of them has a great chance to not run at all. Explaining in great part why most of the Scalextric racers THINK that THEIR car is the "fastest" of their stable, when in fact they are all based on the same (slow) power plant, the ubiquitous Mabuchi FC. :laugh2:

I guess that I got lucky as my Lola Knighthawk is an amazing car out of the box. Handles like a dream and is the fastest of my ever-growing fleet.

Hi Flower

i happen to know that the car you depicted there is one the fastest Scalextric out of the box ;)

and there will not be too many cars that will be quicker out of the box,

whatever engine you do put in there, it will not improve its handling much at all.

it is a very good balanced car, i only have +-200 Scaley like slotcars (see my website)

but none of their engines ever gave up on me

it is true that with a good engine you could maybe improve braking and/or top speed :)

cheers
Jaak

In fact, if more powerful than the LCD in it from the Phactory, there is a good chance that it will hurt it...

Hi Jaak!

I love the Lola and want to get a competitive car for myself and/or my racing partner. We have the most fun racing when the cars are equal and his Ford GT is almost but not up to the Lola's performance.

I'm not about to change to motor in the Lola but did change the motor in my Jaguar XKRS to 25,000 rpms but it is a bit difficult to handle and won't "take" the Lola in a race.

Take care,

Susan

Hi Susan.

I spent a couple of years racing the Scalextric Lola at a club I used to frequent. Very nice car.

Bill from NH's suggestion of buying a second one with a different livery is a good one.
An alternative to that would be to try the Fly Lola B98/10. This was the car that eventually supplanted the Scalextric Lola in our magnet racing class.
The 'Motorola' version has a more powerful motor than the other models.

You can view them here: Fly Car Models listed under the Standard Cars.
A US-based supplier might be easier to purchase from if you choose to try one.

Good luck.
Regards,
Steve-a-roonie Kempson

If the goal is for equal racing, of course get another of the same car in another livery.

I believe that our sponsor Electric Dreams has the world's largest inventory of those Lola BK2 as well as some of the older Scalextric model.
However, if you are after speed and handling, better get yourself one of THOSE, nothing can touch it with a ten-foot pole. :laugh2:

I haven't found anything out of the box stock that can touch it.
