From what I see it looks like no Retro South in 2015.

I hear Ralph is racing carts.

I have seen no schedule of events.

Anyone know more than I do, and willing to share it?

I talked to Ralph today. I think he is putting together a flexi series or trying to. Retro looks bleak. I am going straight line racing of the slot variety and travel to some of the bigger Retro races up north.

Hopefully Ralph can shed some more light.

Don't I know it...

Jay Guard and I ran SERRA for 3-1/2 years and the amount of traveling alone was considerable.

Cap, one of the problems organized slot racing has faced for many years is that everyone wants to race but no one wants to run the show.

Looks like we'll need to do some driving if we want to race Retro outside of Abbeville - which is already a two-hour drive each way. Sorry to read the news.

For you guys in the southeast, I know Florida is a long drive. However, GRRR will be racing in Jacksonville on April 25th and August 29th.  In both race meets, we are running Can-Am, F1 and Flexi-GT Coupe.  This coming weekend, we are having the Retro Gator Championships in Melbourne. GRRR will be running 4 1/2" stock cars on Friday evening and Can-Am & F1 on Saturday.  I hope to see some of you guys at these events.

Doc,

I'd love to make it to one of your events in the future -- maybe in August. Sounds like you guys have a great group for your races. We have a group of racers from the Columbia, SC area who enjoy racing -- both track racing and "bench racing." Maybe I can convince one or two to join me for a road trip to Florida.

We also hope some of your group would be interested in joining us sometime for our monthly retro races in Abbeville, SC. Aside from good racing, Abbeville is a great destination if you're into "small town Americana." Also, the owner of Slots of Fun, Don Berni, happens to run a very cozy and historic B&B about a block from the track. The track is located just off the town square, which has great shopping and browsing for the wives, too.

It would appear it will take a little more effort on our part to keep regional slot racing alive.

Absolutely. We remember having you there. In fact, I can recall standing at the drivers' station chatting between heats.

That was back when SERRA was alive and kicking.

We've had the good fortune of having Terry come up for races a time or two in recent years. I say "good" fortune, even thought he whipped my sorry a$$ on the track. The boy is quick.

We'd love to have you. If you guys can make it, let us know and we'll try to plan something special.

Sorry I am not more active, but I have three roadcourses and four dragstrips within an hour of my house... Charlotte is doing well, but no Retro.

I have been doing a lot of slot drag racing lately; took light money Wed night at Stanley NC; Light money and overall win at Rock Hill, SC; and over 30 win at Troutman, NC, last night... Index classes this afternoon in Stanley, NC; Roadcourse tonight at Rock Hill, SC; and Drags sunday at Concord NC. I am keeping busy, and it's been a good week!

Also, Jim, check out SCSC Racing Association on Facebook. These guys need your guidance... they are beginners and occasionally go to Abbeville and Rock Hill.

Upstate Speedway is hosting a Retro race in the Fall and would love to host you more regularly for racing. We are in Inman, SC near to the I 85 and I 26 intersection. We will use IRRA rules for our race in the Fall. September I believe.

I actually live in Monroe but my tracks are in Inman, SC. Two round tracks and a drag.
Hoping to bring Retro and WOMP both into the regular racing rotations.
Drag is doing fine of course.

Jim,

Reconsider this date as Jax has closed.

Ben,

What happened to the track that Shannon Conner owned in Mooresville?

Ben,
The summer has put a brick wall between me and adequate funds but I have talked to Shannon and aspire to bring his two remaining tracks into service at Upstate sometime after the Fall. Assuming racing picks back up of course.
Since Drag racing is on an upswing I'm hopeful it will help fund growth in other racing. I'm convinced a strong regional track will have an ability to draw and host great racers and great racing events.
