Surplus Center has some motors for sale, 613 in number as of a few minutes ago... they appear to be very much like the round Versitec of days long gone... Item number: 10-2482.

That's not the same motor. Not enough RPM plus it weighs 1/2 pound.

Looks close with the 1/8" shaft and all except the RPM is off by about 35,000 or so.

And... bushings and no ball bearings...1/2 pound is what I believe to be shipping weight... and I think the RPM is at 6 volts and not race-track voltage.
but it would make a semi correct power-plant for a back-in-the-day Versitech chassis... and there is one on eBay right now...

Not sure if John is that interested in modding these, but certainly a good source for raw parts, if he is.

Actually, that was the basic layout for a lot of different military type motors, by Globe and others. And even the Globe was made in different slot and non-slot versions. They didn't tool up just for a slot motor, but adapted one of their regular motors.
Those Globe parts are so specific, not sure they'd help anywhere else!
