We're looking forward to a great day of retro racing at this first SERRA event and hope to see many of our slot racing friends in attendance!!
Flashbacks Raceway will open Saturday morning at 8:00 AM.
Tech will open for F1 at 10:30 AM and will close promptly at 11:00 AM, with racing to start immediately afterwards (well, as soon as the racers are loaded into the computer).
Can-Am/GT Coupe tech will open 30 mins after the end of the last F1 race and close 30 mins later, with racing to start immediately afterwards.
Flexi GT tech will open 30 mins after the end of the last Can-Am race and close 30 mins later, with racing to start immediately afterwards.
Races will be seeded by random draw; there will be no qualifying. Multiple mains will be ulitized in the case of more than 10 racers in a class, with winners determined on lap totals.
There are no payouts to the winners in SERRA racing, but plaques and/or ribbons will be awarded to those making the podium.
Entry fee is $10 per race. Every racer will be required to purchase a $10 "Pit Pass" for the day (regardless of how may races are entered) to compensate the raceway for leaving the track on during the day.
IRRA rules will apply, except for one additional motor limitation (the Pro Slot motors will not be legal this at this event).
If you have any questions, please PM Greg Wells (cheater) or Jay Guard, or post them to this thread. For directions to the raceway, please call Flashbacks.

Actually the address is:
3334 Stone Mountain Hwy 78
Snellville, GA 30078
GPS Coordinates from Google Maps:
33.848322,-84.047528
(+33° 50' 53.96", -84° 2' 51.10")
This is a small strip building. The track is in the lower rear of the building. Turn into the driveway on the left (east) side of the building. Was there this past weekend for the AMSRA race. Nice Kingleman. Looking forward to running a Flexi until I can get a scratch car built.
Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion.
Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.

Thanks for the correction, which I have implemented in the erroneous post and in the calendar entry for SERRA race #1.
BTW, I just got off the phone with Bob Cozine. I brought him up to speed about the retro movement in slot racing and invited him to our SERRA race in Snellville this coming Saturday. Bob was pretty excited about this development and indicated that scratchbuilding was always his favorite part of racing back in the '60s. He also said he would be coming to the race about midday unless something major came up.
So if you've never met one of the nicest guys from the golden age of slot racing (so long as he isn't racing you! LOL!!), a real slot car legend, here's your chance.

They are the same body. Just make sure you use water-based paints on the 5177 body if that is what you have.

I've got you covered on pinions, angled ones, too. I still owe you for your excellent service and quick response for the bit of non-slot business we do.

Noose, the race went off real well, especially for a first-time retro series race. Jay and I decided it might not have been a home run, but it was at least a double.
We had four F1s, six Can-Ams, and twelve GT Flexis. We had racers from SC and AL in attendance, too.
Best part of the event was the 12-year-old girl who put it to the guys in one of the GT Flexi races. Tommy Flythe was one of the very good racers this young graduate of the Flashbacks kid racing program whupped up on and he was really moaning about it later. (I think he was embarrassed, but how can you tell?) Bob Cozine was very impressed and told her she was the best lady racer he'd ever seen. High praise from an unimpeachable source.
Bob showed up just as we were finishing the Can-Am race and stayed almost through the last of the GT Flexi races. Bob tried out a couple of cars on the track and it sure doesn't seem like he'll need much practice to get up to speed. In fact, we're encouraging him to come race retro with us and it seems he has an interest in doing so.
BTW, Bob expressed the desire to contact some of his old friends in slots: TonyP, Gorski, Cukras, Bob Emmott, etc. If any of you guys see this, please drop Bob a PM here (userID - Bob Cozine), as I know he'd love to hear from you. Or PM me for his direct email and/or phone number.
Pics and race report in a few hours...

Personally, I had a great time and really ENJOYED the racing. It was competitive, low key (we even had a couple of "Red Flags" which allowed racers time to repair their cars when they incurred significant damage), and just plain fun. These were the goals which Greg and I had from the beginning and the racers that attended made it a reality.
BTW... I was really impressed with the quality of workmanship of the scratchbuilt chassis and especially with the attitude of the racers that let many first timers run with various minor "specification infractions" , but hey, what's a few thousandths between friends? .
Greg and I are really looking forward to the next SERRA race on Feb. 23 at Steve and Shirley Harrington's Raceworld Speedway in LaGrange, GA.
SEE YOU THERE!!

Flashbacks in Snellville, GA, was the site of SERRA race number 1 and from the outside, it doesn't look like much. I really like the neon sign.
But step inside and there's quite a bit to see.
Flashback's terrific Kingleman, made we think by Ogilvie some years ago, when he was still using 2x4 bracing. This is one strong track and it is in wonderful condition.
Flashbacks features a well-stocked parts counter. Tommy Flythe is probably buying the pinions he wanted that I forgot to bring. That's track owner Tina Black behind the counter.
Might as well put the group picture here. This a pretty good bunch of racers, though for some reason wunderkind racer Sarah Partee didn't come out for the picture. The distinguished-looking fellow at right front is Bob Cozine, who shouldn't need any intro to most of Slotblog's members.
