I thought I would show "The REALM" photo tour so modelers can see what is involved to take a chunk of balsa wood and make it into a simple slot car body.

This is my style of body building, simple and it works, well at least for me.

As some my have noticed that the nose has been extended, this is to allow the guide flag to be covered.

Remember the Illusion was just that, turn it into a usable slot car the shape and body contours will change as seen here.

If by chance there is enough interest I will post a step-by-step guided tour on how to build the Bat Car body, material list sizes and drawings to down load and print out. Then after your Bat Car plug is complete, it can be vacuumed into a body.

Well here is where it all starts, thinking on how to approach this project.

Posted Image

Section lines X-Y laid out.

Posted Image

Visual check out.

Posted Image

Final fender contour.

Posted Image

Left fender contour and X-Y lines.

Posted Image

Dressing the body with spot putty, reshaping.

Posted Image

Body spotted up,bringing in the contours.

Posted Image

First plug sand out to check contours.

Posted Image

Over view look to see how it compares to the original.

Posted Image

Over view of near completed plug.

Posted Image

On to the paint shop for primer and fillers to seal the plug up.

I will post the final photos to the mold to the resin plug to the first body in the next few days.
All question welcome, thanks for your viewing.

Continuation of "How the Realm was made a Photo Tour".

Posted Image

Primered up, ready to sand.

Posted Image

Sanded out, lets go for the paint.

Posted Image

Painted, now lets get a silicone mod.

Posted Image

Balsa plug in the silicone mold.

Posted Image

Push the balsa plug out.

Posted Image

Here is a silicone mold, simple.

Posted Image

Mash the mod, squeeze it, can take 600 degree heat.

Posted Image

The high temp resin was poured into the silicone mold. This is a exact copy resin plug. The plug was raised with balsa wood to prevent webbing during vacuum process.

Posted Image

Bottom of the plug, vacuum chamber.

Posted Image
Fresh off the vacuum with a body.

Posted Image

Pop the body off with a shot of compressed air, 100 psi.

Posted Image

Presto!, here is a body.

Posted Image

Now you can see what is involved into bringing one slot car body into ptoduction.

The "Realm" was a request by Jarius Watson, and as you have seen he has produced into one of the finest slot cars I have ever seen. To me doing, this request and to see just one person enjoy this, "The Realm" it was all worth it to me.

Well, "thats all folks"!!!

In this bright future you can't forget your past.

United we stand and divided we fall, the Legends are complete.
I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.

Pistol Pete you will always be in my memory.
