I have a 2007 Carsteen controller, this was my son Cap Henry's controller before mine so we know it was well taken care of.

In the past month it has begun blowing the fuse randomly in the main box. We cannot find an obvious reason.

Any ideas? Or does anyone know who works on them?

Is it happening with all your cars, or just one?

I had the same thing happening to me. Seems that one of my Champion Turbo Flex chassis was "bellying out" and creating a short.

A strip of clear packing tape applied to the underneath side of the middle section, resolved the issue. :)

Send it back and they will repair it for the cost of shipping.

PM smichslot on Slotblog. He can tell you all you need to know about repairing it or sending it to him so he can repair it...

Maybe check the wiper area to see if there is a build-up of dirt shorting out the unit. On older Ruddock's, dirt caused by wiper button wear can collect in between wiper path sections (bands).

Also look for a loose wire or wires with worn insulation. This can be an issue on Parma Turbo controllers when they age.

Blowing fuses is something that is happening when the chassis is touching the braids, both of them. Nothing else, unless it is your motor that has an internal short.

Last weekend I raced at a track where the braid was above the track surface on large parts, and the result was (of course) that several of my chassis looked as if they had been brazed on the bottom side. Several racers blew the track fuses.

If the track is powered by a power supply of say 100A it is safe to bypass the fuse on your CarSteen CS-2-controller. The transistors can handle 250A continuously, and more than 1000A for a long enough time to make the power supply shut down.

None of this has anything to do with dirt on the wiper pads, but clean them anyway as the controller "feels" better that way.
