Seems slightly more complicated than soldering together a brass and wire chassis but I love the thought that went into the design!

Cute!

Jairus,
Thank you for the nice thoughts. I designed the chassis while I was waiting for a really challenging medical diagnosis... It keept my mind off of the toughness.
This chassis took me 25 min to assemble. How long does it take to create a scratch built? No soldering skills needed...

Forgive me for asking, but what's up with the silly wheels on such an otherwise beautiful, exact-scale car? Ran out of 917 aluminum rims with Ortmanns or black sponge?
TSR,
Sorry I did not satisfy your vision of the 917... This is a performance car and is an absolute rocket! The front wheels on this car dont grab the track and create a large push. If you use the larger sponge tires you would need to have Ackerman geometry steering with the wheels turning along with the guide... The NW area of the US as been racing these style of model cars for years and I try to help the guys here understand that not everyone is into the performance like we are. Racing is comprimise and we all choose which area to do so -- in this case, looks vs speed.
I created this chassis and have developed it for more than a decade with the intent to produce the fastest model racer on the planet.
Your slotbrother,
David

Can you help me out?

Not to slight David's design, but isn't that what the TSRF was created for?
David mentions a decade of development plus twenty five minutes to assemble. Lets see, I can design, cut, solder, and roll out a chassis in a couple days
. No offense, but building something from scratch is much quicker. I do on the other hand appreciate the design effort and the fact this may be an alternate for the soldering challenged individuals. Now; is someone going to organize a group of racers that have enough interest to get this off the ground?

Nice site. This Porsche is my next hardbody project:Look at what the Germans are doing in their DSC series.

But here's another car I wouldn't mind doing:

It's a March 74S Can-Am by Nitto, but the scale is 1/28 (I believe). Too bad.

I have been holding off building a slot Fujimi 917 until the LH kit version comes out which is supposed to be "real soon now".

Meanwhile- those inspired to convert a Fujimi 917K for slot duty may want to take some detailing tips from this helpful web page:
