I use to have a 1/24th (3 lanes)  track and found that 610mm was about the minimum radius that I could use otherwise the cars would flick around the corners. Got rid of it as it took up too much room and I need the room back for other things.  Just thinking of building a 1/32 track that is fixed to the wall and can be folded down (hinged) when not in use. Found this track plan that might work for me, but want to expand it a bit. Want to make it 6 metres long and about 1.4-1.6 metres wide. (hinged though the middle). What is the minimum radius corners that suit 1/32 (plastic and steel chassis), lane spacing (thinking of 100mm) and to the outside barrier (don't want the cars to hit the side).

thanks in advance.

I have never used turns with a radius of less than 4 inchs or 100mm on any of the 1:32 scale tracks that I have built. The cars can handle tighter turns but to do so they have to slow up so much that it spoils the flow of the track. Also if you are using copper tape for the contact's you run into problems in trying to get it to lay flat if the turn is this sharp.

Here is an example of a turn of only 1.5 inch / 37mm

Not sure of the actual #'s, but I DO know that the tightest plastic track (#1-?) corners will not allow a commercial 1"long flag to work - you have to shorten them to 3/4" long to work.  Best to measure that long  stock car to verify the drift dimension.  Commercial tracks use a 6" outer barrier gap.

OK thanks guys. I think I will draw out a plan making 120mm the tightest corner and see how it fits.
