Bob's try at winding an arm sequentially got me thinking.
In a can type motor, the brushes are aligned with the two permanent magnets. In an open frame type motor, the brushes are most often at 90 degrees to the field plates. Have I wound any sequential five-poles arms for anyone for open frame type motors?
For the life of me, I can't remember whether I have or haven't... and if so, if I timed the comm the same way as I would for a can type five-pole. I know there were some five-pole arms available back in the day that could be installed in FT36D can motors, but don't know if those were stock or timed specifically for the conversion.. .or even if the brush arrangement made a difference.
