Even though it is in black & white, this is a terrific video, with a clarity color films of the day don't have.

Lots of facial close-ups of familiar drivers and personalities, with not a single fireproof drivers suit to be seen. Some drove in long sleeves, but most favored short sleeve polo shirts. Nor even one piece of Armco barrier anywhere. Times have indeed changed in F1...

Only thirteen cars started this Grand Prix, Lancia having withdrawn their team from F1 after Ascari's death at Monza the previous month. Winner Fangio and runner-up Moss demonstrated the dominance Mercedes typically exhibited in F1 at this time, finishing almost two minutes ahead of Farina's third place Ferrari.

Great footage.

My grandfather always said that F1 drivers were prima donnas because all they ever were given for winning was bouquets of flowers lol. This video backs that statement up at the end of the race.

Silly boy – they had hay bales, no need for Armco! :)

Thanks, Greg.
