This man taught me from the beginning when I was a little kid, and I traveled all over the coast with him.
I will miss him very much. Kenny was also the former owner and manager of Slots-A-Lot for a long time. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. If you met him, you will know what im talking about.
May you rest in peace, Kenny. I will miss you, man.

I only met Kenny a single time, when I visisted Slots-A-Lot after the Fall Brawl a couple of years ago. He greeted me like a long-lost best friend...
My sincere condolences to his family and obvious large circle of friends.

I am sharing this post Mark Schlussman made at OWH:
Today is a very sad day for me, Prime Air Conditioning and Prime Racing and everyone that knew Cross Island Kenny.
Kenny passed away in his sleep this week.
I met Kenny at a Brooklyn Slot car raceway over 30 years ago. We became instant friends. Kenny was a master baker by trade when I met him and a slot car guru from many years before I met him. He quit his job at a bakery and became manager of that Brooklyn raceway and soon moved on to manage Slots-A-Lot Raceway in Douglaston NY. He stayed with Slots-A-Lot Raceway after they moved to Franklin Square, NY.
Over 20 years ago he came to work for me at Prime Air Conditioning. He thrived with us and he also worked at Prime Racing with me. Eventually Cath,y the owner of Slots-A-Lot Raceway gave in to Kenny's desire to own the raceway and sold it to him. About three or four years ago Kenny had to leave us at Prime Air due to health problems but he kept the raceway and did everything he could to improve our hobby/sport. But with his poor health issues he gave in and retired a few months ago, sold the raceway, and moved to Virginia to enjoy life??? He passed away peacefully in his sleep this week.
RIP, Kenny. I will think of and look for you on the Cross Island Parkway whenever I drive on it!
I will miss you!
Please share this post so all of Kenny's slot car friends will know that we lost a great one this week.

Sorry to hear. Kenny was a great person and racer. A staple in the NY slot racing scene for many years who helped countless kids discover the hobby. He will be missed.
RIP, Kenny.

Kenny's obituary, courtesy of a Facebook post by James Williams:
Kenneth S. Piccola
Oct 10, 1961 - Apr 2, 2015
Kenneth S. Piccola, 53, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away in his sleep at home on April 2, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of Margaret Vivenzio and Salvatore Piccola. He worked as a baker, air conditioner installer, and fulfilled his dream of owning a slot car raceway. He loved rock music, most notably bands such as the Beatles, Bruce Springstein, Fleetwood Mac, and the Rolling Stones. His interests included cars, slot car racing, spending time with friends, listening to music, watching movies, going to concerts, and renovating his home. He was a happy go lucky, honest, caring, generous, kind, trusting, and loyal friend. Kenny leaves his legacy to be cherished by his life-long companion Bernadette, goddaughter Michelle, his cat Woody-Al, his dog Brooklyn, and many more friends.

The slot racing world has lost a true ambassador of the hobby. Nobody loved slot car racing more than Kenny. We can only hope that there are more racers with the passion Kenny had for slot cars.
