Well, we got a slower start than expected, leaving us only enough time to fit in the first two races. No F1 this month. But we had a great time, nonetheless.
First up - our flexi class, which was expected to be faster than usual, and it didn't disappoint. We've abandoned use of the CoT bodies in favor of higher-downforce GTP bodies. Yep, they flew around the Grandstand.
The usual suspects...
(Dave Erickson, Jay Pittman, yours truly's Driver-With-No-"Cents"-Special, Marty Cwiakala (pink motif, in honor of Marty's wife Peggy), Richard Sylvester, Dan Parker and Chris Barnes)
... lined up and as colorful as Easter eggs.
On this day, Chris proved to be too much for the pack, racking up an enormous lap total of 337 -- 14 more than second place.
(Richard Sylvester 2nd, Chris Barnes 1st, Jim Beasley 3rd)
An interesting note: David's car was incredibly fast today, possibly due to the return of his "awesome" pit crew (wife Karen). But I guess he wound up in one too many mix-ups in the turns, leaving his lap total short of the mark. And Jay was running better today than we've ever seen. The time away from racing must have helped him recharge his batteries and refocus.
Great race. Congrats to all drivers.
Next up was our monthly Retro Can-Am race. I can't believe I actually forgot to take a shot of the opening lineup of cars. Take my word for it; they were stunning... and quick.
Again, Chris proved to be on top of his game, racking up 313 laps, just outpacing Richard by a couple.
(Richard Sylvester second, Chris Barnes first, Dan Parker third)
Dan edged me in this race by, maybe, ten feet. The race was quick and, as always, a great time for all the racers.
Another successful monthly gathering for Don Berni's Slots of Fun in Abbeville, SC.
If you missed it... well, you missed it.
Congratulations to the racers. See you next month.
