April's D3 Hardbody races at Buena Park Raceway had a very good turnout with several record breaking performances.

Craig Gilbert did a special presentation to Roger Uusitalo. Craig and Keith Tanaka built a 1965 Corvair slot car which resembles the 1/1 Corvair that Roger had in the mid-sixties. Roger drove his fellow Team Rolling Hills buddies to various SoCal raceways during the heydays of the golden years of slot car racing. The 1/24 Corvair represents a special time for Team Rolling Hills members (Roger, Craig, Keith and Gary Gilmore) as it reminds them of the fun times they enjoyed back then. Fortunately, we're enjoying slot car racing again nearly 50 years later.

The first race of the day was the "Mixed" race (any D3 racing class) with 16 entries of which 8 were GTPs. Eddie Shorer drove one of Bob Krigbaum's new GTP cars and set a new total lap record for the GTP/Group C class of 255 laps. The full field of GTPs was a good indicator of what speed we'll see at our 4 Hour GTP Enduro on June 28th at BPR.

The "Combined" race (3 C's, Jalopy, Trans Am) saw Phil Nyland tie the existing total lap record for the 3 C's (corvette, cobra, cheetah) class with 244 laps.

The 80's-2015 NASCAR race also saw a new total lap record again set by Phil Nyland with 245 laps. The entire field of 11 NASCARs all had a best lap time under 6 seconds. That's quite an improvement from the early days of D3 hardbody racing (2007).

Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.

Thanks to our race directors, Victor Dubrowsky and Tim Neja.

All in all, a great day of D3 hardbody racing with several record breaking races.

That was a fun day of racing. There were several very fast cars and very fast drivers, wow.

What I really like about our races is that even though the cars are quite fast they still are good looking models. The guys put a lot of work into them with nice paint, decals, and details. Also, the drivers are a great group with a lot of chatter and joking going on all day.
