I got recently some Hawk 7 motors that are different from the ones before. I can notice the tag in the can is different (SAY H7) and the motor seems to be also somehow different... more brakes, at least.

Is it a new change of specifications? The more brakes are relative to stronger brush arms or magnets?

Has anyone else also noticed this?

The ones I tried seem to be even a little slower than before, but that can be just bad luck...???

We have them also. I agree that they have better brakes but of the six I have purchased thus far all have been slower than the older ones with the tied comm.

But the brushes appear harder.  None of them have been balanced by grinding on the stacks. However three of them have small blobs of what appears to be purple epoxy on the stacks just below the comm.

I have no particular problem with them being slightly slower but those drivers who have a supply of the older motors are going to dominate for a period of time until they run out.

Do these new Hawk 7s have a shaft sticking out both ends of the can? Or is one shaft end cut off?

If they say H7, they only have the shaft coming out of one end.

Despite some bad/incorrect advertising by a Michigan eBay seller, there isn't such a thing as a long shaft Hawk 7.

Jerry doesn't have any explanation why the new batch might be slower.

I am the unluckiest guy there is with the new Hawk 7's. I have not had any of my last 5 make it through an entire night without giving up the ghost and 2 were in JK ready to runs. Yet my 5 NOS from the original batch of say 2009 that everyone else was throwing winds in are still going strong. Long live the Retro Hawk!

I've never been a big fan of the Hawk 7.

I agree with Matt on the Retro Hawk.

IMO, Jerry should of phased out the Hawk 7 and just went with it.

We have been running the Hawk 7 in our races with no problems and no complaints, but I'm not sure if we have seen the most recent batch.

They are reliable if you run them at recommended voltage .
