I am trying to get an overwiev of my vintage collection (scrap heap?) and I have these two nearly similar chassis - both from ebay

 

The bottow chassis looks like a factory build - a sort of hybrid using new and older parts ??

The top chassis is nearly similar, but the mix of plated parts and brass component suggest that it has been assembled from a kit ?  or ??

anyone got a clue ??

 

Champion really made a lot of different chassis, based on a few standard parts. 

 

As a kid in Denmark with not building (or other) skills, the Group 20 class were the way to go and as an much older grownup I have assembled different champion chassis from ebay. When I bagna chasing these chassis, I was surprised by the number of variants as I have thought that there maybe was 2 or 3 different types :-)

It is part #292 and was available in kit form also. The rails were un-plated in the kits.

 

 

# 293 was the next revision and #293-3 full length bat-pan kit was available to upgrade these chassis to that configuration.  Those were un-plated also.
