The Gran Sport class features endurance cars of the late 60s and early 70s including the Porsche 906, Ford GT-40, Porsche 917 and others. In testing, the Porsche 917 seems to be the best car to run in Gran Sport and is capable of beating any of the Can-Am cars as well. This is because the 917 has an ultra-wide front and rear track and a very low center of gravity. With a simple body swap, the chassis used on a Gran Sport car can be used on a Can-Am car. Both classes specify the use of a Deathstar or ProSlot 2002 Speed FX balanced sealed 16D motor.
Although a distinct class, Gran Sport and Can-Am share the same chassis/motor configuration. Currently both classes are being run together
