Will it tech with the clips on? Don't get 'bit' by that.

Width spec always excludes clips and pins.
I think he's good to go.
Beautiful build as always, Pablo.

I did not know that, Sam.
Good to go Pablo, Happy Daddy-O Day 2U 2.

SB III is fully assembled. As usual, all parts were inspected, perfected, and installed with 100% TLC.
Clearance between .078" wire rails and rear wheels is tight. Three Slick 7 .023" steel spacers on each side do the trick, but I may need to narrow the insides of the wheels just a hair. No problemo.
She passed all my tests to ensure IRRA® legality and good performance:
- Drivetrain test
- Flag tilt test
- All four wheels touch, roll, and have equal footing
- Rear ball bearings are perfect, and roll free to the point of balance
I slapped on an old, used IRRA® body (with a nice Jairus-painted driver) and weighed it - 109 grams total.
Bunky, keep your mitts off it !!

When do you plan to test it to see how it compares to SB 1?

That's not possible, since I've never driven SB I.
SB III test 1 August, if not sooner. No doubt in my mind it will work just fine.

On what type of tracks should these SB's run to their full potential? How competitive have 1 & 2 been against other contemporary chassis designs?

I can say that SB I was very competitive in the only race it's been in, better than either of my two best chassis on the Jacksonville Hillclimb in a recent GRRR race. Didn't have a great finish (sixth out of 13) but that was more driver/motor issues than chassis.
There have been a few "technical issues" with the first chassis but those are being worked out (i.e. repaired) and have been completely corrected on SB III. I think SB I has a lot of potential but needs a little more development time to reach its full potential.

Which shade of Manta Ray orange did you use on this body? Do those Jairus interiors make your car run faster, or just look faster? Are they a speed item or a maintenance item? Wing car racers could take a lesson. <G>

That's a good question, Bill. I'm going to start a new thread tomorrow, because this poor quality control issue on slot car parts keeps coming up... not just paints, but other things as well.

I'll be taking the repaired Snake Bite I to the Tom Thumb Six-Hour Enduro and see how it performs there. I only got a few laps on it there the first time and it showed a lot of promise. Who knows, it may be our enduro car. I'll post SB I performance results one way or the other.

SB III track test #1 today was inconclusive due to several factors:
- flexi race environment
- track had been cleaned and re-spray-glued (can't read scum patterns without scum )
- the (Hawk Retro) motor was a complete dog (first time I've ever had that problem with a Hawk Retro)
All I can say is she didn't have any bad habits, and she straightens out and snaps straight quicker at corner exits than any Retro car I've ever driven. Jay Guard probably knows what I'm talking about
Track test #2 will be at Peachtree City next weekend. If she handles well there, she may actually race.

The car came back to the Ranch for repairs and a tune up. Brass tongue connector was found to be bent. It received new bracing and went back to the driver.
Today at Ralph Thorne's Outlaw Series race at Talladega, Red qualified fourth, and finished fourth, out of a field of about 20 plus. That makes my day

It looks good and runs well, Pablo. I think Red would rather I not inspect it between heats in the race but what can I say.
Good run, Red.
