Terri and I were visiting relatives in Peachtree City, Georgia this past week, and we stopped in to visit SpeedZone PTC for a few moments. It is located in an outer area of a fairly large mall with quite a lot of restaurants and other stores nearby. Parking seemed ample, and the main mall lot is just across the service drive.

Since SpeedZone PTC is making a bid for the USRA Nationals in 2016, I thought some of you might be interested in photos of the facility. Apologies for the size of some of the photographs, but to get decent pictures, I used "panorama" mode, which results in large picture file sizes. Some of these might be appropriate for the raceway directory, but I will leave that to Greg.

Bob,

Peachtree City is about 60 miles south of me, Bob. In the middle of the night, it might be an hour away, but at other times of the day, it could be 2-3 hours driving time just to get there.

All of the tracks at SpeedZone PTC were used tracks when purchased for the raceway, I'm almost certain. It is one of the nicest raceway facilities I've ever seen.

Bob-

I do not know the age of the tracks, however they appeared to be in excellent condition.

Our schedule this trip was too action-packed with family activities to allow me any time to run on the tracks. If I am able to on another trip I will share my impressions. The manager mentioned that wing car races are run regularly on the king and they get good turnouts for these races.

I gave the manager Greg's contact information; he said he has photos with "people" in the raceway; it was a rainy day when we stopped and I don't blame people for not being out and about.

Greg, I took I-85 through the city once. The traffic and 'the trucks' was so bad the air was 'unbreathable', like being in the Lincoln or Holland Tunnels... maybe worse. You could see the smoke in the concrete caverns. Wouldn't go there again.

MG, cool pano pictures. The store looks amazing, how was the stock...? Any sign of Retro? The little garage oval probably wouldn't be a 'rental hit' but a weekly "Womp Romp" could be a blast.

None of the tracks are "new" and stock is limited. No weekly or monthly Retro racing at this time that I know of.

I see where they are bidding on 2016 USRA Nats. Is it going to be scale or wing cars

That's still good. Would be nice to have the wing national a little closer to home. Might be fun to dust off my G12 stuff. Maybe Santa will bring me a 27 Lite.

Hey Bud,

What do you mean, "Oh well"?

You sure fly racing GTPs with those tall built-in side dams.

A wing car ain't much different... just sayin'... :)

Bud,

Spec 12, Amateur Group 12, Int 15 Amateur, Int 15 Expert, and Group 27 Lite are all spray glue.

You won't need a glue board unless you are planning to pit next to Beuf and Swiss.

If they win the bid, of course I'd be in. Even if I didn't want to race, I'd go just to watch.

I know that this is an old thread and forgotten by many but I just "found" the hillclimb that was at Speedzone PTC. It is at Apex Raceway in Murfreesboro TN currently.

Some other items around the raceway look like they may have originally been from Speedzone PTC also.
