I had the entire race report complete and down to the very last sentence, then Chrome crashed. Here we go, again…

Sunday evening after the GTP four-hour enduro the RetroPro group converged to run a warm-up race for the upcoming Summer Western Classic. A somewhat light turn-out with only seven racers deciding to show what they had but a great race all the same.

Okay, let’s get to it… As tech was closing Tore Anderson who had planned to race but was running a little late got to run only about ten laps with his brand new Warson RetroPro car. I overheard him state, I’m ready and to tech it came.

We auto qualified since we had so few entries and the time of day getting started.

From the drop of the green Tore was the one everyone was chasing.  After the first heat Tore pulled out a 2-1/2 lap lead with James Grinstead, Jim Lange and Sam Rackham all on the same lap.  Jay Henry was nipping on the heels of the second place racers.  Tore just kept putting distance on the field but James turned on the afterburner about mid race and was on a mission.  Chuck lost a gear and retired to the pits but return about a heat and a half later.  As James was charging strong the slot gods decided it wasn’t his turn and he too lost a gear.  Sam had some problems and opted to call it a day late in the race.  Jay Henry experience several offs but had a steady run all in all.  Mike Low didn’t have the fastest motor but kept the car in the slot for a podium finish.

When the dust cleared it was Tore Anderson in 1st, Jay Henry in 2nd and Mike Low finishing on the podium.

I’d like to take the time to thank everyone that made this race a reality.  First, thank you BPR for allowing us to hold the race.  All of the turn marshals, all of them were not even signed up to race.  A huge thank you to Don Campbell, Debby Waterson, Carmella, Max Bower, Gonzo, Tim Hould and one other local but do not know his name.

See you all at the SWC!

P.S. I forgot to shoot a picture of Chuck Vaughn's car but sent him a message to fire one over to me.  When I get it i'll post it.

I have to say that if it weren't for some bad luck....the new HiTech retro pro chassis that I won at the Checkpoint Cup ran really well. Time to clean everything up, mount a few new bodies and be ready for the Western Classic.
Tore showed once again why he is da GOAT. Showing up 10 min before tech with an untested car and racing it to a win, congrats my friend. Also to Jae and Mike, congrats you guys.
