Has anyone tried this product out yet on Lexan or plastic bodies.? I thought Classic Industries' Astro=V body would look pretty cool with a mirror chrome finish.

Looks great! Only issues I have had is when I did not prep the bodies properly.

It is awesome. Very, very chrome. You could shave in the reflection from this paint. I sell a TON of it to slot and R/C racers. It is very reactive to the plastic so it might cause thinner surfaces to curl.
Thanks for the input. The youtube videos I've run across on this product seem quite favorable as well.

Most chrome paints usually need backed in some sort of black.

That was going to be my question. Does it need to be backed with something.

I see the manufacturer offers that product as well. http://www.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I think I'll give it a try on my Astro V along with the decals I picked up from Pattos Place. I should probably call the manufacturer first and see if the product is safe to use on PETG plastic.

Hi Tim
I have gotten away with Spazz Chrome on PETG......... But was not over joyed by finish......
The chrome did not POP ...... Dull even with black backup ... ???? ....
I would go with Fascolor Silver Pearl .... For that nice body ( Original or Repop ??) Nice & safe !!! My $0.02 ....

The FASKrome is more of a Super Glittery Silver vs Reflective Chrome

Thanks for the advice. I definitely don't want to be left with a dull chrome finish on this original body. I may have to give it some more thought.

Good stuff. Jeff Bigelow used it as a trim on the sparkling candy red Mustang he painted for me a while back. That was also on a lexan body.

While the instructions do suggest backing with black (they actually make a black mirror backing) about half of my customers don't bother. I guess that's one of those things you need to test for yourself.
I'll try it both ways on a small piece of scrap PETG plastic . Thanks

I've used the chrome paint and tried backing it with white but it dulled the chrome. With no backing it stays shiny but will wipe off real easy, it's like it never dries. Don't remember what brand it was and a fast car painted all chrome is hard to see on a King track with a grey surface.

Let me help clarify something for those of you that have or would like to try Spaz Stix mirror chrome...
Spaz make a specific black backer that will not react to the mirror chrome, as any other blacks will do.
Regular paint tries to "bite" into the surface it's sprayed on, and it will dull the mirror chrome and turn it into a dull silver.
Here's what I've found....when you spray the mirror chrome, you need to give it 2 or 3 light coats...and then a little time to dry via your airbrush with just air.
THEN...
cover the chrome with their black backer with a couple of light coats.
here's the stuff.....
