John "Bud" Greene from Saraland, AL, and John Clow from Mobile, AL, will both be attending the first OSS race!

Bud is ready to race with some great-looking bodies he just painted. Bud will be a concours contender for sure.

Ralph,

The NASCAR bodies most of us over here have are the Kelly Daytona we run at Talladega. They are not the same as what are in the picture.

If I can swing a couple of vacation days off I might see if I can make it up but will just run Can-Am since it's IRRA® rules.

They of course aren't Daytonas but those first two look even like they have more downforce if that's what you're after...

What are the first two bodies? Nice!!

Red, you can run the Kelly Daytona or any of the bodies like Bud has painted.

Rules state any commercially bodies are legal.

Hope to see you there.

Eddie,

You can order that body as the OS 233, 235, 237, or 239. They are all basically the same, the only difference is the grills.

I got word today that Gary Gerding has arrived and started re-vamping the King track. He will be cross sanding all the turns, completely re-braiding the entire track, re-wiring and adding power taps.

The fastest King in the South should be even faster and smoother now!

If you plan on coming down Friday August 7th and need a hotel room, the Days Inn in Peachtree City is giving us a discounted rate of $74.99. Just mention your coming to Speed Zone. As of right now (July 24), theyhave 11 double beds and 9 kings left. Book now before they are gone!

This is the closest hotel to the track, they offer a free continental breakfast and wifi. McDonalds is right next door. The guys who have stayed there before all recommend it.

To commemorate the inaugural Outlaw Scale Series race I will be handing out wall plaques and box plaques for the 1st - 5th place finishers in Nascar and GTP. Everyone will also receive 3" x 3" participant box decals.

Here's what they will look like...

OK, the track refurbishing at Speed Zone is complete and Gary Gerding is on his way home. Reports from several top racers confirm that the track is better than ever. It is now 14.2V with virtually no power drop off while racing. The motors stay cool and consistent. No launching issues now, even with F1 cars. The track was also re-braided and a few legs were adjusted. It seems to be about 2 tenths faster then before.

For the out of towners, I recommend a 8/27 or 9/27 for Can-Am, and 13/37 for Nascar and GTP. That's seems to be what I end up running when I'm there.

The Mercedes and Bentley bodies seem to be the body of choice for the local GTP racers.

With such a large turnout expected there will be a few small changes for the first race.

Qualifying will be shortened to 30 seconds per driver.

No lunch break. With 3 or 4 races per class expected there should be plenty of time to eat at one of the close by restaurants or you can have a pizza delivered.

With multiple tracks being utilized, please use your time wisely to get your testing done when you're not racing or corner marshalling.

Please have your car in tech on time; when tech closes, it closes. No exceptions.

Please be courteous to the other racers, that means no camping on lanes during practice. If you have time please help marshall the drivers who are practicing.

It looks like we are going to have 5 to 8 kids racing with us this weekend which is awesome! So what I would like to do is let the kids all race together, I think it would be more fun for them this way.

In order to do this and not add any more time to the day I would like to let them run their GTP race on the King while Nascar is qualifying on the Hillclimb, and they will run their Nascar race on the Hillclimb while the GTP class is qualifying on the King. This should also allow their parents to help them during lane changes etc.

Any objections?

We will do this with just GTP and Nascar race. I'm not sure how many other kids were going to race Can Am, if enough do we'll figure something out.

I also have plaques just for the kids race.
