We will start with this one. It was the first Retro East F1 winner, my first Retro East race winner, and Jay Kisling won a bunch of races including the Sano and I believe the R4. This where F1 started in Retro East.

Two rails of .063" and the guide lead is over 1" but I do not remember how long. The front wheels are attached to the pans instead of the center section, something I tried back 20 years earlier when I was running Group 7 (wing cars to you young kids). The supports for the front axle had to be changed as the IRRA^® rules were finalized and had to be moved so they were no longer wider than the chassis and sticking out of the body.

Mr. Noose got the second version and Mike Katz the third. Noose just recently retired his which was in loaner mode and Mike ran his last year in the flat track Nats.

Recently made this for a Colorado racer for a Hillclimb. Says it runs great, I owe him another one. 4" wheelbase, 1" guide lead, .047" rails, and .063" wire pans.

F1 based on the Duffy War Beaver kit. 4" wheelbase, 1" guide lead, Wallenda style pans.







Fresh out of the tumbler. I used the HVR polish on this one. it works great. Just need to engrave it.

Do you prefer a longer guide lead on an F1? On these, you're tending toward a longer-than-"normal" lead.

 

Curious minds want to know – and thanks for your insights.

I like 1 inch on F1. Never had a shorter one work all that well.

Maybe that's been my problem. I've never had much luck racing F1. Will have to give it a try.

This F1 is like the one further up in the post. Mr S. Said the last one was so good to roll another.

4" wheelbase, 1" guide lead, .047" main rails, and .063" pans. Duffy 1" bracket cut to sit on top of the rails and Duffy guide tongue.

Do the piano wire pans weigh any different than using .064" X 1/4" brass?

New F1 to test this weekend at the P1 GRRR race.

.047 rails and .063 wire pans. Center weight independent from pan assembly. Duffy bracket and bottom plate. Nose piece not sure, I have had it for a long time it maybe something Bryan Warmack made for me.
4" WB, 1" GL.

No they just shake around and are captured by the tubes in front and back by bracket. The center pan is completely unattached to the pans it rattles around in the square tubes in front of the rear body mount and center mount on nose piece.

Mr. Noose asked me to make him a copy of his favorite Octopussy F1 chassis. So here is Son of Octopussy.

Very interesting design!  Plumber shaker with the wheels mounted on the pans?  Shaker weight in the middle mounts to the body.  How much does it weigh complete?

Octopussy Senior comes in at 108 grams.  Has been fantastic on all tracks for me.  This should be about the same.  Matt Bruce used the "sister" to this one to win the Formula 1 Flat Track event at one of the Sano's.

 

Also one thing more:  I love the fact that full body pins can be used and not 1/4 inch ones so you don't hit the motor.

The son worked better than the father at the Sano! Got 5th overall and it was the first time I have ever made the F1 A Main at the Sano.

This is a new F1 I built up for the race at P1 on the Hillclimb last week. Ran it about a dozen laps and handed it to Marcus who was third in the main. Ran good especially since no tuning was done to it at all especially tires. We ran it with a Chicagoland McLaren, no time to try any other body.

4-1/8" wheelbase, .90" guide lead
Four rails of .047" wire for rails.

Beat this out yesterday for this weekend's Retro race on Fast Eddie's Hillclimb.

Plumber pan setup with shaker center plate attached to pin tubes.
.047" main rails and .063" pan rails.
4" wheelbase X 1" guide lead.
Bud's front axle and fronts.
Duffy F1 rear bracket and Chicagoland tongue.
56 grams.

Great debut race for the new Evil Bucks Octo F1 chassis on the flat track at BPR this weekend.

Dale Yamashita was top qualifier, first in the main, turned fastest lap in the main and won concours to top his day off!
