The inaugural Outlaw Scale Series race was the talk of the town, we had a huge turnout, close competition, tons of race prizes and most importantly tons of fun! The second race at Heart of Dixie Raceway in the famed Talladega, Alabama promises to be just as exciting. It features a fast paced 71' Tri-Oval and tight 145' Paper Clip that is definitely a driver's track. Their local racer's are very experienced there and will be tough to beat but I'm sure your up for the challenge! Also several of the "Southern heavy hitter's" who could not be at Speed Zone have already committed to this race making it even more of a challenge. Lot's of pit space here too. I wouldn't be surprised to see 25 racer's here for this event, so if you missed the first race, don't miss this one!

I will have box plaques for TQ, Concours and 1st through 5th in each class to hand out, as well as more participation decals

Casey Dill and Matt Jackson from D & J Racing is donating 5 of their beautiful threaded front axels to be handed out after the Can-Am race.

It can also be tricky to find on some GPS devices, so leave a few minutes early just in case.

Parts for sale (mainly tires) are scarce there. If Shirley Harrington comes she sets up tables and sells what you may need. If she and Steve come? So be prepared...

Any ideas on possible gear sets? Any ideas on possible tires that will be good? This rookie is needy - now I'm an outlaw.

I would say 8/27 for Can-Am and 13/36 for GTP. No clue on the oval, maybe a Talladega regular can chime in.

Steve and Shirley will be there. Not sure about NASCAR gears with Retro Hawk. Will know more after Sat. Shirley will have the best tires for the oval (they used to own the track).

If you try to run a soft tire on both sides you probably won't finish the race. More later. :wacko2:

NASCAR gear recommendation?  Tires?

I'm sure Ralph meant 9/27 or 28 for Can-Am. Track power is only 12.5 volts at best and lower with eight cars.

I'd run same tires as you did at Peachtree on the Paperclip. I like Kelly Retros or treated JK big boys or soft Wonders. On the tri-oval soft as you got on the inside and as hard as will work on outside. If you have the axle stops or locking wheel collars put one on the outside makes real easy to change to a another tire in the race if needed. Moving the axle more to the outside may be needed for the axle stop, that's fine that helps also, going outlaw.

I think same gear ratios on both tracks as Pat eachtree City, remember lower voltages.

I'd run 9/27 with Can-Am with my 104 gram car; if I was heavier I'd maybe go 28.

Flexis I'd do 13/35 with .730" tires.

GPS may not find the location... But if you turn right at the railroad crossing coming from the east on Hwy 77 and go to second four-way stop and turn right, track is there on the left (drug store sign).

From the north on 77 turn left after the railroad tracks, go two stop signs, turn right on left is drug store sign and a slot car track.

Like Jay said, tracks is two blocks behind the Burger King. The streets runs parallel with BK. Across the street from the vacant shopping center.

We have acquired an experienced and dedicated race director for the day in Mrs. Shirley Harrington. Thank you, Shirley, for stepping up to helping us out all day. This should help smooth out and shorten up day so we can all get home sooner!

Race day is just two days away! Hope you're ready, if not start thrashing now! We're expecting over 30 racers.

See you guys Friday night. Safe travels to all.

And if you're not careful, he will lap you :laugh2:
