Where did you get the cut-away drawing? My slot car room is covered in these.

Here is the box made with chopsticks Obéché.

I still have the same method of construction.

The two black lines are 1 mm plywood glued between the wooden sticks, they will use it to achieve symmetry of the car.

I found the cut-away here

Thank you friends

The idea is to cover the central portion of the auto sheet aluminum of 0.3mm thickness.

So this morning out of bed, I did a quick test to see if this is possible.

The tool is brief and to the rest of my remaining sheet and brush handle to push the plate, this is what happens.

It's not perfect but it is feasible, the parts will be rebuilt as soon as I get back the sheet

Crap that's neat!  Doing the wing too?
Never understood the desire to carve wood for a slot car until I built the Maserati 250. But, after..... learned its a great aspect of this hobby.
Carving the body out of wood gives the project soul.

Very nice work Régis, very nice.
Hope you do a brass rod chassis instead of the normal pan.
Jail door chassis are way cooler!

Ah, but Rick, you actually finish your projects, which in my eyes makes you a fast builder!

Looking at my pile of unfinished projects, I can only admire your speed...

And I think that Régis' car, like a lot of your projects, would still make good magazine articles...

You know... as editor, Gregg can only fire me.
Tell you what Régis, if Don is willing to help, I can promise you that this project will see the pages of Slot Cars Magazine. Damn the rules!

My justification is that the readership on this forum and FOLM is so small as to make publication in an international magazine worthwhile.
Especially since the project is just too cool not to print!
Keep your photos high resolution as possible please...

... and just do what you do best.
J

Thank you friends,

I currently reflected on the chassis and on the wing, and if the car is successful, I will do an article with photos.

Here is the last piece of aluminum, rough cutting, it will be then adjusted formed and stuck to araldite on the body.

I learned doing the Balsa Proxy that that sealing the wood was of utmost importance.
So I painted a lot of clear sealer on first before primer and then base coat.

But then you already know that.... Carry on!
Official word from the publisher: "bend da rules".
Please excuse his use of slang Régis.

I made a static 1:24 model of the same car in the last century. I think it was started 25-30 years ago, but was finished about 15-20 years ago.
I was based on a clear slot car body - i think it was from GT-Models (UK) - and the body was made in Glasfiber from a automotive repair kit - everything was very primitive then. But still today I wonder how I made it - the body parts are very thin and delicate.

Image_7.jpg

Most of the parts came from the Heller Ferrari 330P4 plastic kit, including the engine. The model is not a great scale model, but looks good on my shelf :-)  the decals are deliberately fantasy as I did not like the sloppy livery the 1:1 CanAm cars had, so I dressed it in the "European" fashion :-)

I spent numerous hours on my model, so I really appreciate the amount of work Régis puts in his body.

Here is more pics of my model: http://racecars.dk/Ferrari612CanAm.htm

sorry for hijacking the tread, but I am crazy about this car :-)

Niels It's ok, it is the same theme.

Thank you very much for your photos, you have done a remarkable job with many details.

Today I made exhausts and I started the aluminum fin because I was not able to stick corectement the aluminum sheet metal on a wooden wing.

It also requires that I look at how to fix the wing to the chassis, what is clear is that it will be removable and not too stuck in the body for not clamping the slight movements of the chassis.

Parts manufacturing of brass chassis.

The set is a little too heavy, the car weighs 197 g and it remains the details to mount.

Régis, I love the chassis!
Not too heavy for a wood car and with the right gearing you'll find the 26D motor can pull it around just fine.  Might need to zap the magnets however if it's an old motor.  John Havlicek can build you one that will make that car SING!  (run fast)

Beautiful project sir.

Old Mabuchi magnets don't like zappers.

Bill is "Korrect". Mabuchi magnets were made by the process that makes them unable to be remagnetized by conventional means.....DON'T DO IT!

You'll kill or at the very least weaken them. :shok:

thank you friends

Rest assured, I will not touch the engine.

I'm not sure I can make a run with a faster engine :wacko2:

Thank you friends for your advice and encouragement.

Today I made the rear lights, with pieces of a real car.

They are glued to the aluminum, and then I used my my lathe.

Here is the strict minimum reduced engine for reasons of weight, the car with its frame now weighs 210g, and I still have to strengthen the front.

Latest photos before Christmas.
I'm happy as I managed to slip a driver PSK in full, copiously buffed, which I replaced the head.

I wish everyone, happy end of year celebrations
