Richard acquired this track from my pal, Jay Guard, who found it in SC and restored it. The pic above was actually taken when Jay owned it.

Based on markings on the bottom, it is believed to be the first track Steve Ogilvie ever made.

The restoration on the track was done to a very high level. To make the braid drops through the track surface lie flat, Jay hand-filed 96 (IIRC) round holes square!

Also, after he acquired it, Jay could find virtually no wear in the slots; they looked like the day they were cut, so it is believed this track received very little use before he purchased it.

Just a short update:

We've moved racing to Tuesdays starting about 7pm. We still run some GTP races, a little retro when possible, and we've having a blast learning how to run Don Weaver's custom Jail Door chassis. They're incredible, and the man is a true craftsman!

If you're in the area, we'd love to have you join us. For directions, feel free to PM either me or Fast Richard.

For the last couple of weeks, our Tuesday evening races have focused on IROC cars -- Richard, the track proprietor, has a flock of 'em. They all have the same chassis and general setup, making for pretty competitive racing. All you need is a controller. Oh wait, we might even have a few extra controllers, too!

Contact either me or FastRichard (see above) if you'd like to join us on Tuesday evening in Gilbert, SC.  We can direct you to the track. You'll have a great time with some good racing.

Good point, Don. We've been talking about scheduling a Saturday race in the near future to accommodate some of the guys from the Aiken area, too.

Brandon, we'd love to have you join us sometime -- when you're not working, for a change! Let us know if you'd be interested in joining a Saturday gathering. You already know the entire gang from SoF.

We've installed a new lap counting system and are looking forward to our first true race using it. Plans are for Aug. 27 at The Doghouse. PM either Fast Richard our me for more info.
