Matt,
I buy my braid from USA Raceways in Conn..
(203) 739-0108
They have two thicknesses, both are wider than 1/4" so you'll want to route your recess at least 13/16" wide.

All my life I've strived to keep from becoming a millionaire, so far I've succeeded.

I believe SpeedZone PTC in Georgia sells and distributes track braid.

Check out slotcarcorner's website. They sell braid and all the tools you need to get the job done. I ordered from them when I did my oval. Worked out great.

The owner of USA Raceways Dist. & Danbury Raceway, Peter Adamo, passed away earlier this year. Did someone else purchase the companies?

Magnetic braid from Jim Hunnicut also has extra long life as well as working well with homeset cars when installed flush to the track surface.
