By the way, this will be the 19th car this guy has bought from this dealer in less than 10 years.

I can tell a story about prepping one for the dealer I work for and taking a salesman for a ride and scaring the crap out of him, but the Hellcat is a niche vehicle just like a Viper TA. Don't get me wrong, the Hellcat Challenger is a beast and the eight-speed auto is definitely faster getting to 130 MPH because of its shifting versus the Tremec-equipped Hellcat, but I just can't justify the doubled price.
After all, can you tell the difference between a 190 MPH top end SRT 392 and a 204 MPH Hellcat? Put five more grand into the SRT 392 and give it a racing suspension then put in an aftermarket PCM... and you are there.... maybe just a tick slower in the quarter... but the top end will be there.
And the Hellcat Charger... which is even more rare... has a faster top end speed than the Challenger due to less drag in the front end... go figure.

I met a guy Saturday who has a Challenger SRT392. He just ordered a Hellcat. He is trading the SRT on
it, and said the dealer is giving him close to what he paid for it. I find that hard to believe, but the Hellcat is costing half again as much. The SRT is about nine months old.
He is taking a $10,000 to $14,000 bath on that SRT all day everyday regardless of how the dealer makes it look on paper.
