Questions:
Anyone know a place on the web that has some good pictures of the Porsches in the film?
Does Parma (FasKolor) make a passable blue (and orange) for the Gulf colors on the cars?
Anyone know of a source for a set of decals for the car?

The wonderful thing about FasKolor is that it can be mixed into any kolor that you desire.
Buy the kolors closest to what you want and a bottle of white and/or black.

Addendum: I just checked on Amazon and unfortunately it is out of print and mint copies of the original printing are fetching silly prices (over $800). Sorry but I will not loan you my Michael Keyser-signed copy.
Good news though - Bentley Publishing is planning to bring out in May, 2008, a paperback version of "A French Kiss With Death". Don't miss your chance to purchase a copy of this very interesting book.

Thanks for the picture, Mike. Is that a Fly car?
I got the Fassky blue, looks like that will do the trick.
The Bruce Patto decals are lovely.
JK makes a set of vinyl stickers that are not bad, #JK7084ST. I can get them overnight from Pacific Coast Hobbies, and as I'm trying to get my 10-year-old to do most of this himself, they might work out best.
Gibson says Steve McQueen is his new hero. He could certainly do worse.

Although I cannot be certain of the intent - many of Bruce's "example" decal graphics are off-colour or have watermarks added apparently to prevent people from downloading the graphic and printing them without payment.Mick showed some decals Patto made for the McLaren F1 LM car of the mid-1990's, that has a completely different color (more greenish) than the original Gulf blue (a powder blue) of the John Wyer Ford GT, 917 and Mirage cars.
I have a feeling that this is the case of the example that I posted in this thread.
Didn't the McLaren F1-GTR Gulf-Davidoff sponsored cars sport quite different graphics? Later this year Aston-Martin fly the Gulf colours at LeMans just to confuse matters further!
The Fly car model "Steve McQueen Collection" 1/32 model shown in this thread has become collectable, but nearly the same car released last year in the Fly 10th Anniversary collection can be had for a more palatable price if you do a bit of searching. One of the Ferrari 512S Coda Lunga versions seen in the film was re-released last year in the Fly 10th anniversary series as well.

The differences between the Steve McQueen edition and the 10th Anniversary edition being the 10th Anniversary logo (of course) and the simulated tape around the headlamps on the newer version.
Believe it or not... there is a THIRD version of this car offered by Fly car model in 2003. It appears in the "Team03" two car set. Fly is clever in that you can purchase the #21 car separately to complete the set of all Gulf-Porsches appearing in the movie "LeMans". The #20 in this set has subtle differences from the other two releases but I won't get all pedantic and list them here.

This set goes up and down in price - currently a three-car set is being offered on that infamous auction site for a smidge over $300.

This is why I placed the little warning, because it is definitely NOT the same as the earlier blue.

But that's also the correct color for the Gulf-McLaren cars in the mid-1990s.
This is why I placed the little warning, because it is definitely NOT the same as the earlier blue.
Hay,
Lets not forget the FORD GT40. The Golf Team in one Season finished 1st 2nd and 3ed at LeMans in the Sixties. I think they started the Robin Blue and Orange Paint scheam.
