For those who are unaware, Slots of Fun in beautiful downtown Abbeville, SC, has sold its stock and closed its doors.

Since it's been my personal slot-car-racing home for the last several years, I owe a lot to Don Berni, his wife Karen – who allowed us to pull her hubby away for long Saturdays of "boys with toys" action – and to the friends I made racing there.

Thank you, Don. We wish you the best as you move into another setting. Go, knowing that you provided a lot of people a great service. Nobody has ever offered such a great place for me to play. I can't say it enough. Thank you.

And for the future, here's hoping that the friendships we made at Slots of Fun will last forever. Cheers.

What a great ride! :dance3:  Had SLOTS of Fun since my first visit oh so many years ago.

Sure hate to see it go but we have to wish Don and Karen all the best in their future endeavors wherever they may lead them. Best of luck, guys...

Great observation, Rodney!

Don had inventory like no other. For anyone who never had the pleasure of visiting Slots of Fun, check out some of the recent race reports here on the 'blog and you'll see what I mean. Stuff on the walls... stuff in display cases... stuff on shelves... stuff hanging from ceiling... if you wanted it, chances were that Don had it (or would be glad to get it for you).

The whole setting in the old gas station walk out front door look to left old church from the 1800 hundreds all right in old downtown Abbeville, SC.

Rod,

I believe that the SoF location was the original Ford dealership in Abbeville during the Model T days...

Gonna miss that place... had a lot of fun there and some great racing.

All the best to Don and Karin!

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I feel very fortunate to have visited Don and his showplace on one occasion. He had the sweetest Hillclimb in his shop, an amazing stock, and everything mentioned before.

Fortunately, the Hillclimb has found a good home in Inman, SC and will hold its second big race flexi and Retro Can-Am, November 14.

Best regards to Don, family and Mr. Mustache. You'll be missed by many.  :)

To all you Retro racers in SC: we  are attempting to get some retro racing started at The Slot Car Track in Concord NC. Possibly once a month on a Saturday...

Aside from the second weekend of the month, what would be good for you all???
