Bass Pro Shops has continued their tradition of offering a 1:32 ready to run slot car racing set in 2015. This year's set is manufactured by Carrera and features the NASCAR Gen 6 cars of Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick.

This is the demonstration racing set in the "Santa's Workshop" area of the Bass Pro Shop store in Gurnee Mills, Gurnee, IL. These photos were taken before the Christmas display area was opened to the public.

Notice ,they got the drivers names on the wrong cars. I believe they pulled thos sets and can't sell them. And are replacing with corrected sets.

According to Dave Kennedy, it was a windshield assembly problem in China. Some sets are correct - some have the windshields reversed and some have both cars with the same windshield. I would not be surprised if they are using the incorrect cars for demo purposes.

A more notable problem, and one that will probably not fly in certain parts of the country is that the cars are going the wrong direction on the oval track layout.

NASCAR being goofy as fruit flies wouldn't like it, but I'd just sell 'em.

We came back after the grand opening of the "Santa's Wonderland" area at Bass Pro Shops Gurnee Mills and took a few action shots of children enjoying themselves.

We found that the power supply had apparently been limited so that the cars do not come off of the track- sort of taking the fun and challenge out of things.

When I was kid and home racing sets were available there weren't any that ran that good! Even the best sets weren't as good as what is offered today. It is nice that a guy could buy a set off the shelf, take it home, set it up and have it work as it should and be FUN for kids.

The layout is larger than I thought. The family at trackside provided scale.

Is the store layout the same pieces as the set? Looked to me like it was setup different. I think I read the set has 9 straights in it.
