Florida MySeries ran our 3rd GTP Enduro race of the 2015 season at Holly Hill, Florida on November 14, 2015. The rules call for C21 chassis, handout JK Retro Hawk motors, a GTP body, and minimum weight of 101 grams. The race format is to run 5 minute 30 second heats and cycle through the lanes twice. Nine teams decided to give it a go on Saturday.  The race lead was very close for the entire race with the first three teams within a few laps of each other for the entire race.  The race was not decided until the last minute of racing. At the half way point, the top 5 teams had 483, 482, 482, 479, and 464 laps. Without reviewing the other enduro races, I think that this was the most competitive race so far. Race results are shown below.

The 3rd installment of the JK box stock Indy Car race saw 13 drivers enter the event. This again broke the series total for entries in this new car class.  The field was divided into Novice and Expert drivers.  For the expert class, Dennis Demole was very fast as usual and lead the entire way. However, 5 other drivers were very close behind. For a sprint race, this was as close as they come.  For the novice drivers, we had a tie for first place.

Expert class

   Driver               Total laps    fastest lap

Dennis Demole      294           2.295 sec

Jim Smith               289           2.366 sec

Nathan Pickett       288           2.380 sec

Marcus Ramos      288           2.446 sec

Matt Boman           287           2.355 sec

Jeff Cox                 286           2.423 sec

Bob Rondinone     282            2.201 sec

Doc Dougherty      282            2.427 sec

Race details are shown below for the expert drivers.

Just wanted to let everyone know that our Hawk Retro motor did not actually fail.

The reason it quit was because a piece of lint got under one of the brushes.

Phil, thank you for the info. I editted my two posts above.

Dale, I dont think that I have ever heard of that happening. And you guys were very fast. After race #1, you and Jay were only 4 laps out of the lead.

A couple of shout outs:

1) I was impressed with 7 year old Nathan Yarian. This was his first race and did very well in the JK Indy car race. He could barely see over the track. Awesome.

2) Also, I want to thank Jeff Cox for tech inspecting both car classes. He volunteers to do this and does not get enough thanks in my opinion. Thanks, Jeff.

Jay drove that first race of the enduro.

The strong finish was because of Jay's driving and that I was fortunate that the car turned out to handle pretty well.

The only legal body I had to try was the Storm.  I asked Marcus what tires he was running and he said treated, so I threw on a pair and they worked.

RE: Tech

I also appreciate Jeff taking the time to tech the cars.

And Matt Boman too.  Matt stepped in a few months ago when Jeff was unable to be at a race.
